Wind here is shocking. It sort of dies away a bit then you get this one huge gust that lifts the roof - OH is putting off emptying the fire cos he knows he will get covered in hot ash as soon as he opens the back door :D Clouds are awesome, flying past, I wonder how fast they're going. And the wee hens have had enough, they've gone inside .

Same here ... it's horrible and I can hear things (probably the stupid recycling tubs we've got here as they were emptied yesterday) blowing around the street.

DM was coming to visit but I've told her to hold off as don't want her driving in it for a "non essential" journey.

No idea what I'm going to do with myself today ..... (been up since 5 & still not decided)

    That's why I have a lidded ash bin :D

The rectangular ones are good for stoves as you can get one that fits your ash pan... Maybe Santa can bring him one?

FRUGAL - stay at 3000iu, the ideal optimium dose is 2400iu. Get the doc to check you once every 6 months. But ask for the actual reading then look it up on the net. I started on it for my ME a couple of years ago, and when I started my level was 52. Its now 156 so it does rise but slowly. My gp said 52 was "fine" and is still saying 156 is "fine" :rotfl::rotfl:I wonder if they have a clue sometimes.
I want these biobulbs, I need them. Can you get them to fit wee table lamps ? What size would I buy for that ?

OK will do, thanks. How funny about your GP!!! Durrrrr! As far as I have found, you can only get the biobulbs in normal size bayonet and screw fittings. I have lights with the small sized fittings which is a damned nuisance  Only normal sized fittings are in bathroom, bedroom and hall/landing and as I don't spend much time in those rooms, I don't think I will use my only bayonet fitting biobulb in there  I will switch all of those over to the biobulbs once I get a bit of cash in the bank.
Promise I won't "go on" as this isn't the place but I just had to say "thanks" for all the lovely words and support .....

    Nobody minds, Rising :)

How come my husband is determined to fight me every step of the way in my preparations for the winter?

First of all he is cold in bed so i lay an extra blanket on the bed. He moans he is too hot.

I talk about cavity wall insulation (i know he wont pay but i'll have to) and he talks about damp and the rendering needs doing.

I mention blinds up the kitchen window to retain some of the heat lost through the window and then he complains about having to drill holes in the walls.

He wants me to cut down on the household expenses but seems to want to do naff all about it. :(
Sorry I haven't been on here for a while, hope that everyone is well?
Your post rang a BIG bell with me Judi after OH proudly displaying the de-icer he paid £1.49 for at the local garage last night as he thought that 'We'd better be prepared' I've got 4 de-icers stashed away which I paid 99p each for! I know that it's not a lot, but you feel like you are knocking your head against a very big brick wall!:( Never mind, every little bit we do helps... I keep telling myself!:)

Rising - I'm trying to work out where to out my biobulbs too. Part of the problem is that they are so bright... Although I see you can get 15W ones from other suppliers. Annoyingly you can get a screw cap to bayonet converter, but not the other way round as far as I can see...
  • I know we don't do a lot of pics on here (I have made it small so hopefully won't cause problems for anyone) but ........ was looking for wee cat when I noticed my throw in a heap on the sofa

    P1000126-1.jpg

Think she's trying to let us all know something?

She has now retreated even further under cover and there is hardly any sign of her now (apart from the big bump in the middle of the heap)

ETA: this may just be the kick I need to get finished!

just the same here - I am watching the dividing fence with expectation of it coming down - thankfully will be my LL's job to repair.

have been closing doors to try to keep the warmth in the rooms without putting heating back on.

have a good day/ weekend everyone
