Hi all. Back slowly recovering from novo-virus. Bonus - I've lost 10lbs in 10days.

Looked in cupboard for something to cook tonight. I have NO tomatoes. How did this happen? The sky is going to fall in.

  • Jeepers gone 5am and still up, and going over thread as was sure there was a ? I had not answered and found it the boxes I bought to hold the flour.

They are nothing special just storage boxes with lids that do go on and stay on but not click and lock. They will keep everything out and be fine for my use of storing them one on top of another in study. As to watertight not sure about that but if we were flooded and water reached study, which is technically our second bedroom, third doesn't have enough room for all the bookcases, desk never mind the junk and is why poor hubby has third as his bedroom as big enough for bed and all the furniture he needs, then flour getting wet would be the least of our worries. The loft water tank is not used so no water to come down from ceiling. They will keep all sorts of beasties out as lid does fit on properly but as they are not food grade I will not put the flour in them loose, will keep them in the sacks. I could almost but not quite actually get two sacks in one, just lid does not close properly so one in each it will be but means room to roll up top of sack for extra protection in case something got in box while I had it open to take flour out. They are just clear plastic but you can buy them with different colour lids if you want to colour code but I will use same colour for all flours as hope ( if son ever asks) to use a different colour lid for sugar.

Today I want to get some more tins in as spent most of past 5 hrs going through my stores and finding am short of quite a few things, well as hubby would put it, short for me but not for most :) Plus pick up some more of those storage boxes and must remember call son to see if he can get me sugar if not will pick up some more.

Not sure if I should try and get some sleep now or stay up but hubby will not be home till about lunchtime, he is just getting ready for work now so wouldn't go shopping before 2pm, so think will try and sleep now.

Oh yes discovered I do not have any orajel, well I know I do have some but can I find it and have an ulcer at side of of furthest back tooth, rare for me to have a mouth ulcer but its sore boo hoo

How come my husband is determined to fight me every step of the way in my preparations for the winter?

First of all he is cold in bed so i lay an extra blanket on the bed. He moans he is too hot.

I talk about cavity wall insulation (i know he wont pay but i'll have to) and he talks about damp and the rendering needs doing.

I mention blinds up the kitchen window to retain some of the heat lost through the window and then he complains about having to drill holes in the walls.

He wants me to cut down on the household expenses but seems to want to do naff all about it. :(

  • Only idea I can come up with is ask him in what way you should cut down and then just spend that amount and see how he feels when you run short of things or sit without heating on because you need to save on heating, that kind of thing.

If he moans that he has become to hot in bed why does he not throw the blanket off???

We did notice a decrease in heating bills when we had the cavity wall insulation done but that was about 10 years ago, not sure if it should ever be topped up, must check, but the hall which has the biggest outside wall stopped dropping below zero even if heating was off, we were lucky got almost a full grant to pay for it.

I don't know but would 'No Nails, hold up blinds I have only ever used it to put up some plastic hooks so not sure how much weight it will take.

Wish I had better ideas, hopefully someone else will

    hugs

    Hi all:j

Still struggling with winter prep - getting there, but because we are having quite a bit of decoration/new carpets before Christmas, time is a bit limited. I just wanted to ask where people get their cheaper dog food from please? I did check online when someone mentioned it, and it was cheaper - buit I forgot to make a note of the supplier:mad: They have Royal Canin - and are very big dogs so eat a LOT!! I can get it locally but it's very expensive:eek::eek::eek:

    TIA if you can help:T

Don't go out and stock up on tomatoes, they will still be available next week, take it easy, that is a horrible virus
