If you're in Ravelry then search in stashes - people sometimes sell wool off really cheaply there.
  • I dare not think what my loft is like, its beyond me getting up there and hubby doesn't like going up ladders that don't have a proper base, loft ladders just a long straight ladders so its only when I can persuade son to go up can I find out what is up there and I know when he was last up about 2 years ago he said it was rather full - man who checks the motor of the dehumidifier doesn't moan so I presume its clear enough for it to work. If I ever get study cleared I want son to come round and clear the loft so I can go through all the boxes and bags and see what can be got rid off, tons I know.

What would you class as morning, Raise letter says person will be round in the morning and its 12.40pm now, guess I will wait till 1pm and if still not here call them, although you only get an answerphone but eventually someone might call me back, they are very busy these days and no doubt will become busier

 I am having withdrawal symptoms!

Where IS everybody? No posts since yesterday tea time!

    Hi Everyone :j

I'm still here too, reading all your posts, and keeping up, though not posting 'cos (and no doubt a few people who know me would be amazed at this!), I have nowt to add! I know...unbelieveable :rotfl:. I thoroughly enjoy all your posts though

Like many of you, I'm pretty much as ready as I can be. Just waiting really - hardly used the heating so that's fab!

Still working my way through the freezer in the hope I can get it fully re-stocked before snow comes/Christmas comes (whichever arrives first). I'm sure the freezer fairies keep adding stuff in though...take out one small piece of something and 4 portions of something go back in.... Honestly, I'm down to a few sprouts and a couple of prawns and I STILL can't seem to finish it up. It's absolutely ridiculous but I won't throw any out. Am considering defrosting it, cooking it, then putting it back in the freezer. Just to get things moving :o

Talking of things moving...kitten has [STRIKE]diar[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]diaho[/STRIKE] the runs, and even HE isn't sabotaging the winter prep...unless of course, you count the weeing in the phurnacite (I only realised when the fire wouldn't light!), the kneading the hot water bottle over enthusiatically (I'll find out tonight if he has actually punctured it!) and of course there was also the disabling of the tubey thing from the Tumble Dryer (realised this after huge draughts swept through downstairs (now stuck onto the hole in the wall firmly with gaffer tape - oh, how I love gaffer tape). :rotfl:

Ooh, just thought. I did think of you all last week - I was on the train down the East Coast to visit my friend near Cambridge and saw a big Dunelm store...hmmmm. I think it was that....:o no, I'm sure it was...anyway somewhere down south was a store you all keep mentioning that we don't have up here in the wilds of Northumberland. Made me smile to see it :)

Apart from that, no news....just waiting for Spring to arrive....though it feels like it already has some days....:T

YAY not only did i get my dehumidifier today but the steamer i ordered yesterday came today!

i've found a decent local organic box scheme and the doctor has advised me it's time to get serious about weight loss so the steamer will help me use up all that lovely veg in a healthy manner and it's something i can chuck everything in and forget about til the timer goes off, my kind of cooking :p

i've got potatoes in one tier, swede in another and curly kale on top, i'll fry up a little cooking bacon to add to the kale and theres dinner!

the dehumidifier is really heavy! and a bit loud though my daughter can sleep through anything and i got used to sleeping with the chest freezer next to the bed so i think we can both manage if we need to use them in the bedroom occassionally, i'll def be using it on economy 7 to save money however to test it out, just this once i have it in dd's bedroom, it was 67% relative humidity before starting lets see what happens after an hour and perhaps longer.

think i'll do some laundry tonight and move the thing into the living room, actually i wouldn't really have a choice in the living room about using it at night, the only socket i can 'borrow' is the one for the wii so overnight whilst we sleep is best for the living room and clothes drying :rotfl:

Im still here too and was suffering a bit of withdrawal too - good to see so many people bck on here. I went into school for the first time since June today and picked up some presents left by my lovely last class and I was ABSOLUTELY knocked out to open one package and find a beautifully knitted pair of 'Cranford' mittens from one of the sweet girls!!! They are defo. the BEST teacher present I have EVER had and they are my fave colour - pink. I remember her asking what my favourite colour was. I do hope she comes back to say Hi so I can say thank you.
The Cranford mittens pattern is free on the net but is too difficult for me with all that cabling.
With all this talk of humidity can I check something? My dehumidifier says 65% -68% when off in most of my rooms - is this quite high then? It goes down to 55% ish when on for a few hours but then goes up even in the empty rooms - I suspect the house is quite damp even tho I have had a damp proof course and use breathable paint. Do I need an attic dehumidifer I wonder??

  • Hi everyone - way behind on the thread so apologies & I will try to catch up (lost my darling dog last week and struggling with a few things).

Anyway, finally managed to get a portable radio yesterday after forgetting for around 3 months:o.

Mr Ts have them for £8.97 if anyone's still in need - nice and small but I've managed to get a great reception (no mean feat as surrounded by hills here & can't get a telly signal).

Sounds as if its going to be a good way to strengthen your muscles and help you lose weight.

my foreman grill which i loved dearly has died and rather than replacing it i thought i'd have a go at steaming the meat instead, should be interesting for sausages!

i was a good girl tonight, this steamer has a tray that collects the veg juices so i poured them into the swede and potato to mash it up, no butter or milk required! i added in cumin and only a tiny bit of salt and just a wee pat of butter on top on the plate very small bit, oh and i put in garlic, it was sooo yummy, i think i too will love my steamer if my first meal is that good!
