I`ve got a lovely stash of pure wools to use, maybe scarves for all next year

Unfortunately no smilie for jealously I am slowly turning the few pure beautiful wools into a thow via crochet, nothing fancy, just started with a square and going out from there as did scarves for everyone last year so that should do them a few years and zilch for me so thought would like for a change to do something for me, I rarely wear hats or mitts as that time of life when I have my own central heating. So only one ball left and so will drop hints that I want pure wool for presents :rotfl:

you forgot to add to the list:

do ebay listings with all the carp from the loft
do carboot with all the stuff that didn't sell on ebay from the carp in the loft

    :p sorry i couldn't resist!

i'm not allowed access to the loft in my rented flat, therefore everytime we do a big clean prior to a flat inspection we clear out stuff and send it off to charity shops etc... mind you if we did have a loft space methinks i may have the same issue as you do!

Baby steps;) but you're so right of course:o
Unfortunately our loft is the same size as our maisonette so it holds quite a bit, in fact a lot, as there's no beds, sofa etc to take up space.

    I am a horder and wish I wasn't, so does hubby,he's a minimalist given half a chance which isn't very often :D

So, re this humidity thing, my phone's weather app says what the humidity is and i've never taken any notice before - I wonder if I might have a look for some sort of weather/humidity station for the house. Any recommendations anyone?

Also, do barometers work? I sometimes see them when I am out and about with work but I have no idea about them.

barometers are great for knowing when to put the washing out or not! i used to have one in an old croft house we rented on skye, there it often looked like rain but many times it didn't rain after all or only a light sprinkle that was more than compensated for by how windy it was so i relied on my sinuses (i have sinusitis triggered by large dips or rises in barometric pressure) and my barometer to decide if the washing had time to do it's thing or not, it was a very good system!

i recently bought this thermometre with and indoor and outdoor sensor as well as displaying the relative humidity. i see it's gone up by a quid from what i paid for it in that lovely amazon fashion! it's good though and i got it very quickly.

i do find that if you don't stick the outdoor sensor outdoor you get two different readings but i just use it for a general idea and there isn't a lot between the two, it also has a very handy switch on the back so i can go between C and F, i still think mostly in F so it's nice for me to be able to switch back to that if i want to

ooh i just looked at it and the rh has gone down to 62%...now where IS that darned dehumidifier! :rotfl:

I am always looking at it, we have had it for 2 years and it is very accurate. Re barometer: what you need to know is rising or falling and the station shows a bar graph and predicted weather change and the following weather happens in a bit, not immediately.

Indoor humidity of 55-62 is very comfortable. Our house is always between that range because of the lime plaster and vent humidity sensors

Oooh I wish you were on my Christmas list - you would be really easy to buy for - and i'd have fun choosing the wool :D

PS That's my loft in the picture on the left - after the big clearout. Before it was stacked to the ceiling with the carp of 15 years. Now it's a bedroom and a tad cluttered again.

I have been looking for a thermometer that gave both inside and outside temp but always so expensive but looked at the one you gave and its £8.99 now that is more my price level, so ordered it and should be here tomorrow - I order so much from them I joined prime as fed up with post office taking weeks to deliver when its not specifically next day ( found out they used to pile the parcels up in sorting office till they felt there were enough to deliver, you would think I live out in middle on nowhere not edge of a city and sorting office half a mile away) been worth the money definately. I should point out not all my buys are for me but son and a couple of friends one just has pc for kids and never uses it herself and other no pc and will not consider one, but quite happy for me to do it for them :)

    Thanks for the link

 My house was ~90 until I got the dehumidifier, now 70 feels like the sahara. I'm trying to get it <60 in hope it will get rid of the mould, or at least stop it coming back after I clean it off.

Mr S have matchsticks for £1 a box and famous grousse for £16/L so that's a few more presents for my parents :o This year I've got so into buying presents for people, I don't want to stop! Annoyingly I have everyones except for OH, so far he has a £5 toy penguin with a ticket to London zoo :o

I'm going green with envy of all the talk of knitting. I have next week off work so I will finally have the time to do some knitting! Not that anything I knit ever resembles what I wanted it to be anyway.

I know what you mean! I have ventured into acrylic for the first time to knit 'Weasley' jumpers for my children for Christmas (should save on the heating bills if they wear them!!). But it's just not the same as real wool...

Oh and I didn't think you were hinting! I really wish you were on my Christmas list - I seem to have a heap of nephews and nieces who just want money or giftcards :(. Maybe I should knit them a nice scarf to go with!
