Reclaim PPI from Renault Financial Services (now RCI)

Hi
Has anyone had any experience of reclaiming PPI from Renault Financial Services (which are now known as RCI Financial Services) ? I had a car loan taken out in 2004 (fully paid out in 2007) & have just realised that I paid PPI @ £30 x 36 months. Not sure if you can claim back from this company & would welcome any advice or reclaiming result stories you can offer !!
Thanks a million

    Hi Kelly and welcome

Yes you can still give it a go, if you believe the policy/ppi was mis sold.

You pursue the company that sold you the account, by completing the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, remember to keep copies as well in case you need to refer to it again, good luck.

  • Thank you !! Wasn't sure if it was a dead loss with it being so long ago .... will give it a try, all I can loose is the price of a stamp lol ! Thanks again.
  • They are my next mission! Keep this updated and ill keep you updated on mine! :D
  • Two questions?

Why do you think it was missold?

Why has it taken you until 2011 to notice that payments of £30 a month were going out of your bank account to an insurer between 2004 and 2007?
  • Hi, Any joy with this?

Due to all the talk about missold PPI and the wife asking if I had it when I bought my Renault Clio I decided to look into it. I told her I didn't have it and was positive I didn't. I knew this because a was asked it I wanted it (after I agreed my monthly payment amount) and I said NO because I was in a very stable and well paid job. So from then on I was under the impression I didn't have it. But for peace of mind if not for me but the wife, I checked it. To my amazement I was paying for "credit Care 2 Rental" @ £34.42/ month. Now I guess this PPI under a different name. This agreement dated back to 2003 for at least three year. Is this still worth claiming?
  • Looking into this myself as well, as my partner bought a new clio in 2003 with the finance finishing in 2006 she was told that the PPI was compulsory without it she couldnt have the car. It appears RFS Ltd (now RCI) wasn't regulated by the FSA until 2005. Has anybody had any joy chasing them?? Who did you chase RFS, RCI or the renault dealer themselves??

    Cheers

  • Hi all

Who did you write to for claiming back the PPI? RCI (formerly RFI) are saying they don't have the agreement. They said to contact St Andrews Group who are also saying that its not down to them as they were just the underwriter.

Seems like we are being passed backwards and forwards!

Like some of you folks on here, my partner took her agreement out with RFI in March 2003.

Any suggestions or luck with who to contact?

Yes we have been passed back and fore too I'm afraid

We wrote to RFS first at the following address

    Complaints Manager
    Egale House
    78 St Albans Road
    Watford
    Hertfordshire
    WD17 1AF

who responded saying that it was not their responsibility, it was the responsibility of the underwriter who was St Andrews group and they forwarded the complaint to them at the following address

    Complaints Manager
    The St Andrews Group
    St Andrews House
    Portsmouth Road
    Esher
    Surrey
    KT10 9SA

St Andrews have since replied back (surprise surprise) saying it wasn't their responsibility it was RCi's, so we have forwarded the complaint to the financial ombudsman for them to either decide an outcome or to decide who is responsible and we will take it from their....HTH

You complain to the person/firm that sold it to you. i.e. the car dealer.

    Hi,

I had finance with a Renault Clio from 2004, how did you find out you had the "Credits Care 2 Rental"? I have looked through my agreement for PPI but couldn't see any, but I'm curious to find out if I had the credits like you.

I am in the process of reclaiming my charges from them and they are being difficult so any help from anyone in succeeding would be great.

    Thanks
