Yes but they were aware even if I did make a mistake (cancelled lots of domains at the same time maybe 1 slipped through). They should of invoiced me before hand and not a month after. They want me to pay for a domain I didn't even know I had. Even if i found use for it and i still only have 23 month for something a paid 24.

Anyone had any dealing with 1&1?
1&1 are chasing me for debt I do not believe owe.
Being exchanging emails all day. They are not listening to my points.

" accounts left delinquent will eventually and automatically pass to collection agency AFS".

Is there anything I can send to stop them passing it to a collection agency.

The debt is for -£7.18 but the it's princpal, I don't owe them anything.

    Any suggestions?[FONT=Consolas, Courier New, Courier]

Irrespective of any legal or moral issues here:-

    1. Debt collection agencies don't possess any particular powers to do anything other than ask you to pay,

    2. No one's going to bust a gut trying to collect £7.18

regardles if it slipped though and you made a mistake this domain will be on your account and active. domain invoices are sent automatically, so invoices would have been sent. your domain, your invoice even if you have lost 1 month.
1 & 1 would have paid Nominet the renewable fees for the domain, so they pass these onto you to pay, so you need to pay the invoice and then remove the domain from 1&1.

i have several what i call dormant domains with 123-reg and nominet and still pay them as i will find a use for them.

Yes - I have definite experience with 1&1. They are known to be unscrupulous, if you google them you will find plenty of complaints about them.

It is well known that 1&1 will claim that customers didn't cancel their contract and still attempt to collect payment via use of a debt collection agency. At the time I had a problem with them the agency was called "Avarato Finance" or somehting like that. I remember I researched the company and discovered that they had been set up by the same people who run 1&1 to facilitate this scam.

Because that's what this is - a scam, so whatever you do - don't pay.

Upon receipt of the debt collection letter for a nominal sum - I telephone the debt collectors to gain further information, and they were quite aggressive and "cocky". However, when I wrote a letter of my own informing them of the acion I was going to take - I received a letter the next day by special delivery informing me that the case was closed.

Funny that - how quickly a bit company can crap themselves when they know they are doing wrong.

The amount was nominal - but it was the principle to me.

If you want a quick resolution, just phone up the debt collection agency, tell them they are talking bollox, you owe nothing, and inform them that if they think they have a case - tell them to take you to court.

Must have changed their name then since I dealt with them. If you can be bothered it may be worth applying some pressure to them for some form of compensation - the practice is clearly wrong.

It would make a point anyway.

Haven't had any reponses to my hand to hand combat invite - this is the sign of cowards....

There are actually loads of posts on here about 1&1 and their finance company. Here is an interesting one; https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1607061

I wouldn't say that's interesting................. just a bunch of numnuts who forgot to cancel their account then refusing to pay for the service provided.

I second namecheap.com above, it's so simple, you receive about a billion emails informing you the domain is due to expire, easy peasy.
