I have made my feelings known but as you can imagine it did not go down very well. I am quite prepared to confront people if I think, the system is being abused I do not just whinge about it to other people.

Obviously, which is why I posted "People should read what is written and take it at face value or request clarification - not jump to their own conclusions!!"
But what did you do - accuse Millie of making snide remarks - totally out of order!

our local authority lets you fill in the form to the best of your knowledge then rings the doctor to confirm what is in the form a yes or no from the doctor and hey a blue badge.. got one for my elderly neighbour after 4 hip ops made her very slow and unsteady

Regarding my mother's situation, I have been in touch with the Hospital Consultant and his going to send a letter to her doctor quoting his examination of her. His also going to send me a duplicate copy as well.

So hopefully this will kick her doctor into gear, and if not I will take it further.

I know how difficult it is from experience, but I'd definitely get your Mother a new doctor.

Sorry I can't add anything else, but good luck.

I work for Social Services and part of my job is to issue the car badges. Have you contacted your local Social services dept?
The only time the gp is involved is if we need more clarification of the nature of the disability and then we have special letters which we send out and from which the gp gets a fee.

I think diferrent Social Service departments have different procedures. I think our Council requires a doctor to sign the form always, if the claimant is not getting one of the necessary qualifying benefits.
