Sorry I have to agree. My youngest loves all the Owen Wilson films he has seen so far, but he has now ordered me never to drag him to a free preview showing again !!

Like other posters I stuck it out to the bitter end. I have never been so tempted to walk out of a film so much as with this one.

I fully related to the concept of the relationship between the brothers, and the angst re their parents, but.

IMO, the film couldn't make up it's mind what it was trying to show. One minute humour ( but not that funny!) the next beautiful cinematography. The contrast between the 'native' funeral, to the 'Christian' service. the obsession with the cost of everything, and yet throwing it all away. Celebrating life, but the inevitability of death.
Yes I got it, but it felt more like a test of spot the meaning/relationship/juxtapostion etc, rather than an enjoyable viewing experience.
First mini-film was........heaven knows, but didn't Natalie Portman look good with short hair !

Best thing about this was the fantastic travelog of India.:p

I'm sure I saw this film had been given 4 and 5 stars by some reviewers. I obviously missed something, but honestly don't think I could stand to sit through it again in the hope of spotting it the second time round.

the short film (in reply to meanmanc) was first, useful for some background info, second it really made the ending that much more effective.

Glad you liked it. I didn't dislike it. Thanks for the explanation, I got that it was background all on my own. I just didn't understand why that scene needed its own intro as a separate film and its own set of credits. But hey, creative license and I really liked the fact that people coming in late thought they had missed it because the credits were rolling.

Given a choice between Darjeeling and Lions for Lambs, I'd watch Darjeeling again. Wouldn't want to pay for either of them though. Thank goodness for seefilmfirst and the kind MSE-ers.

I don't think I am cut out for "arty" films. I thought the mini-film at the beginning was completely pointless and not for a second did I think that both Natalie Portman and the beautiful Indian girl on the train could be attracted to the brother with the moustache and the oily hair. And why on earth would someone buy a deadly poisonous snake as a souvenir? I didn't like or understand any of the three brothers, and I still don't understand what the purpose of Bill Murray's cameo role was.

Darjeeling - FORGET IT - Give ME TETLEYS and PG TIPS anytime.

Probably the most boring film I think I've ever seen and I'm sure I managed to get a 20 minute snooze somewhere after about an hour.

Think this will have a very great appeal to a VERY SMALL group of movie buffs

Are you sure that wasn't the medication Quoia ?
I must admit I closed my eyes a couple of times, but I really stuck with it, hoping it had to get better, and all the pieces would fall into place.
I think the whole screening walked out in stunned silence !

Oh well, roll on the frivolous light hearted Xmas offerings - please ;)

I have two tickets to see Rescue Dawn at Bluewater Showcase at 7:30 tonight. PM me and its first come first serve.

I saw this yesterday but Showcase in Bluewater sent me a private screening thing part of their Insider programme.

    Film is okay...Very slow.

I was wondering where everyone had gone! We were sat near the front so didnt see anyone leave but there wasnt the usual queuing in the aisle to exit at the end.

Glad some people seemed to enjoy it but it wasnt for me. If August Rush isnt any better this evening im leaving to watch the footy! :rotfl:
