  • Thank goodness I got freebies, what a load of tosh.

I'm quite concerned that the makers of the film almost glamourise the fact that a 12-year old can run away from the boys home and live in New York with a bunch of weirdos in the name of "searching" for his parents through music.

I'm also surprised Robin Williams consented to appearing in this.

    Avoid at all costs.
  • Wolverine you've got me interested i've got 2 brothers.

Sometimes I just wish that I watched these films on my own 'cos when you've got someone with you, it distracts me and i'm sitting there thinking are they getting it as much as me? are they enjoying it? when really i just want to get on and enjoy the film. I'm so glad that no one walked out of the cinema when I was watching it as it would have really spoilt it, I didn't hear anyone make any negative comments.

lol then out of the three, which brother did you identify with most? even though i'm a middle child myself i identified with the youngest...

Yeah absolutely when I take friends with me to these trips its always a risk - before the other night i had never taken more than two friends at once...
seeing the reviews i took 4 friends to darjeeling...
tbh i was afraid 1)Something would go wrong at the cinema and we wouldn't be allowed in (i was once 3 minutes late to a screening and not allowed in - A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints)
2)They wouldn't like it...I loved the film myself but tbh I was disappointed that most of the guys said it was "ok but not my type of film"

And I definitely think that its sometimes best to go lone wolf...
one of the best film's i've seen all year (i paid to see it) was zodiac and being alone gave me room to concentrate and ponder existence at the same time rofl

Yeah people should research these films before going - one of the most appalling cases i've come across was some guy at Day Watch...
First he hums the Fox tune when it comes on, then there's the prologue with english narration and, of course, the film proper is in russian...
so the guy leans over to me and says "is it in foreign all the way through?"
so i'm like "yeah i think so yeah" and with that the guy + his friend just walk out...
hopefully my mate saw that guy was being an idiot...

  • I saw both Darjeeling Lmtd and August Rush.

Darjeeling was good, I'm an only child, went with my mum. She hated it, I mostly liked it. It was very random. Loved the luggage set, wish I could get one. Scenery was nice and acting was good, would recommend.

August Rush was amazing, don't avoid, definately see this film. Music was brilliant, boy from Willy Wonka and the Choclate factory was good, accent dodgy at points. Had sweaty eyes at this film. Robin Williams as a baddy was weird. Go see it!!

Can't wait for next free films!!
  • Wolverine, I'm the younger of 3 and thinking about it now I identified most with the younger one - i'll ask my friend which one they identified with and keep you posted! Older brother was manipulative just like my older brother!
  • Went to see August Rush in Edinburgh last night - cinema about 65% full, loads of latecomers (tut tut!). Anyway, film was unbelievable, started slowly, but hey, it was nice to see a good old fashioned dreamy film and escape for a while. As someone who found their father when I was 13, I sympathised with the 12 yr old kid desperate to find his parents - ironically, I also immersed myself in music when i was younger.

Despite parts of this being far-fetched, it was like an exaggerated version of my own life, so I did fight back the tears at the end.

    Big softy that I am!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Hi Bathgate Buyer, yes I agree it was bad form that so many people turned up late... I'm sure the ticket says you've to be there for 6pm, we drove like maniacs and got there at 6.20! Plus the fact that there so many empty seats. What a shame. Sorry to be so negative, took my laddie with me (who also lost is dad) and he enjoyed it so I should have been kinder to it. I guess we're all so used to hard hitting or depressing story lines that when one of the old-fashioned type come along, its a shock to the system! Just got tix for Charlie Wilson's War at Cineworld, have you checked this morning

    Hi

I have an e-mail ticket for 2 for this film on Thursday, 29 November 2007 @ Manchester Printworks, starts 6.30pm.

I can't make it and when I have emailed seefirst on icantgo in the past it has been ignored so I thought I would see if anyone was interested in them first.

pm me if you are interested.
  • Nooo I didn't get the tickets for Assasination of Jessie James :( Has anyone got a spare pair? I really want to watch the screening!

I didnt' get any either. Also, rather disturbingly, I have no preview lined up for next week, my next confirmed viewing is in 2 1/2 weeks. What will I do with my time?!
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:

  • I'm a little disappointed there haven't been screenings at Southampton for Assassination - I'm a big fan of Brad Pitt's underrated skill (Watch Se7en and Fight Club) and from what I've heard this is his best performance to date.
I think I'll be paying to see it but no worries.
btw did you guys know its 3hrs long? Some people didn't like that in America so I thought i'd give you a heads up...
I'm even more excited about Pitt's Benjamin Button directed by David (Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac) Fincher, who's pretty much my favourite director these days...
oh and Beate i know what you mean! I haven't got any screenings lined up at all! Kill me now!
