  • I had 7 installed 2 years ago. I was pleased with them. Unfortunately one now will not heat up and if it requires a part I have to pay £275 for it. The engineer is coming tomorrow. They have a 10 year guarantee and if they don't heat the room up to 20c then will be replaced. I don't think I should pay for the part especially as the heater is not fit for purpose! Any advice?

I believe that the guarantee on the electronics is only 2 years; this from their literature:

Fischer elektrostore Heaters. Providing complete heat to homeowners nationwide. All Fischer elektrostore heaters come with a full 10 year manufacturers warranty (with two years on electronics).

That's awful. I'm glad the person put it on Trust Pilot. I wouldn't feel comfortable having a salesman come out to my house after reading this.
    Don't mess with pensioners.

Have just signed up for 3 Fischer heaters. I am currently on E7 (have been for 45 years) and have always managed them fine. BUT 4 years ago had new Dimplex ones fitted and increased by 3 new ones upstairs. The new ones are not as efficient as the old ones, so the evenings are cooler and I top this up when necessary with a fan heater.
I have some misgivings about Fischer after reading forum comments. My main concern is that they will use more daytime electric, and although I am fairly sure my room will be warmer, the cost could be more as no information seems to be forthcoming about how long the Fischer heater will maintain its heat output before the thermostat kicks in for it to recharge.
Any comments please would be helpful.
  • I have one 1.9 KW Fischer heater. It is in the hall. I have it timed to be on from 6 am to 9 am (I have Economy 7 until 8.10 am). I also have the heater on from 4 pm to 7 pm.
After it switches off, it gives out heat for about one hour. I expected better.

Our old Creda storage heaters (working totally on Economy 7) don't look so good but they are never without heat.

    Hope this is useful.

You dont need any more comments to be able to read the last six hundred or so to know that you've made a very unwise decision and that you'll end up paying an excessive amount of money for something that is no better than you can get from Argos and that will cost you lots more money to run than your present set up.

You really need to try and cancel the order otherwise you will be seriously out of pocket

I have just found out from my parents that 2 weeks ago they had these heaters fitted in their home. They had seen an advert saying they would get better heat and save money so rang up and a salesperson came out. They were told in the conversation they would save money which my dad was delighted about as he was trying to get his £130 a month bill down. That would all be great if they hadn't agreed to 7 heaters at the cost of £15,000.

Before this work was done my parents had gas central heating, that in all honestly was most probably due to be upgraded, but after their meeting with Fischer they have somehow been convinced it would be better for them to swop to these electric heaters.

So they now have 7 rooms which have both the gas radiators and these electric heaters.

After reading this thread I am not convinced that they will save anything on their bills.

So for anyone out their asking how much they might cost well my parents have paid £2100 per heater :(

The long term cast will unfortunately be many multiples of the above. I reproduce a very recent answer I made to another MSE'r just minutes ago below :

Your advice on actua hands on use use as a householder is invaluable and will I'm sure be seen by others who might avoid the experiences you have had.

The increased electricity costs and reduction in comfort levels would be my biggest fear.

Volume in kW hours will be similar to NSH, the scary difference is your parents will be paying 30-50% more than their E7 tariff.

Again, thanks for feedback to MSE users.

In addition to which, their heating bills will probably increase by about 300% compared to gas at a third of the price of single rate electricity. Tell them to carry on using the gas CH.
For £15K they could have had 3 brand new central heating systems!
