The seller is going to have this problem though if they want to sell this item through ebay.
If they send it tracked then if the buyer doesn't leave FB Paypal say that 3 days after they can prove delivery they will lift the hold.
I can understand the seller not being happy with their money being help onto for 4-5 days, but that's a lot less though than the seller is proposing the buyers money is on hold for, if they want to wait for the 21 days to post.
The seller has then lost seller protection for not posting within 7 days of payment being made.

OP, you have paid- ignore the tesco analogy that is immaterial. Tell selller you expect your goods as stated delivery wise in the auction- don't threaten anything though. Then make sure you have your full chargeback for INR in well before the 21 days is up. Regardless of some of the advice on here any seller that expects a buyer to wait 21 days to get their goods is not going to be on ebay long- so you need to protect yourself before they disappear into the realms of the suspended.

If seller remains un coperative then I would echo the advice above and get your claim in as soon as possible and get a refund and buy from a better seller.Once you do get a refund make sure you leave appropriate feedback to warn other buyers not to bother wasting their time.

Thank you Soolin, your advice is spot on as usual

If it does get to an INR, you'll get the money back from paypal, but don't agree to any cancellation.
Let the seller pay the fees.
Ebay obviouly isn't the place for them.
Ignore Hammymans advice to pay through BACS. No one in their right mind would give up their buyer protection on that kind of money

As a seller, stuff that for a game of monkeys. I'm not selling something until it is paid for and if Paypal have put a hold on it then you'll get it sent to you when Paypal release the hold or you pay by another method.

If you went to Tesco, went to the checkout and said "Its OK, I've done a bank transfer but it'll take a week" do you think they'd let you walk out of the shop with the goods?
Your analogies to Justify dodgy sellers get more ridiculous every time. What's Tesco got to do with anything this is ebay not the high street.

If the seller doesnt send the Good the OP should do as Soolin said and get refunded and then leave appropriated FB. Ebay can do without stupid sellers like that

I side with the seller, I wouldn't send an item out without the payment being cleared and in my account and you should be a little more understanding of his point of view IMO.

Ahh do you actually understand how ebay works? The reason paypal brought this holds in was to give better protection and limit the possibility of dodgy sellers doing a runner with the money. Those sort of actions effect every seller as if Paypal lose more money they put their fees up.

If sellers don't wish to have these holds or stick by the terms of paypal they shouldn't be selling one ebay. If they refuse to send the items they then should expect the bad FB, DSRs and the future of their account being suspended.

If sellers are sensible and send the items in all likelihood the buyer will happily leave FB and there money will be released quickly,

So to protect yourself you would give up your paypal seller protection then? Why would you risk being scammed on a high end item (you do realise that you need to shp in 7 days to be protected?)

No one can force you to ship but might as well wave goodbye to your ebay account.

  • I was not going to comment on this as you have had some good comments here to open an INR etc etc.

But just reading Hammymans comments actually made me quite mad, the only people i think would be worried about paypal holding there funds would be people who expect to get some comeback, eg they send something which is not as described for example.

When i sold a couple of high value items a while ago paypal put the money straight on hold, i was a little concerned so i gave them a call, they explained why and i was happy, its not like paypal are just going to refund the money to the buyer and the seller will be left with nothing.

if the item is what i expected feedback would be left straight away, this means the money would be released, everybodys happy.

seems to me that its a either a dodgy seller or a slightly dim seller, either way i hope it works out and you get what you have paid for without much more hassle.

And what happens if you don't leave feedback? They have no money and no goods. They MAY get their money eventually WHEN Paypal bother to look at the tracking information to show its been delivered.

Paypal release the money on day 21 if no feedback is left, i actually got feedback 2 days after day 21 on one occasion.

The whole point of a hold is safety for buyer and seller, the buyer has paid, the seller can see the funds on there transaction page, it simply has a hold on it. this is prob the first high value item the seller has sold, i can now sell high value no prob at all, but as my previous post when i first sold a couple of things the hold was there.
