HAHAHA! I hadn't noticed that!!!
Ok, that makes me feel better then, it makes sense but I figured as it was already showing on my statement... me too, I wish there was a way of viewing what makes up the differenceSantander 0% £1,529.94

If you ring them they can tell you, but what a faff. When I stay in hotels for work they swipe your card and take an 'authorisation' then when you check out they swipe again and usually the 'authorisation' sits on your available balance for up to 2 weeks... very annoying.

Hey, happy new year and well done on hitting the 10% mark - that's a pretty good milestone right? I've just been looking at my accounts, wondering where an extra £100 disappears a month and I think I've been overspending on food so I may take a leaf out of your book LondonGirl and take out specific amounts of money at the start of the week so that I'm not able to overspend. A single girl who doesn't overeat (I hope not anyway!) shouldn't be spending up to £200 on food! Takeaways will be the first thing to go then I'll stop buying expensive brands in the supermarket
Thanks for throwing some good ideas out there!

And the expensive brands....generally the savers are just as good..
My monthly food shop is rarely more than £130 so if I can you can

Happy New Year!
Thanks! Was really pleased to hit that one! Next one 20%! The little targets keep me going, looking at it as a lump is way too daunting!!

Hi all,
Today should be another enforced NSD left all cards and cash at home, my bank balance now equals the available balance so it was that cheque that needed to clear which is good.
Cash wise I have £80 left for the month, I estimate £15-20 on lunch tomorrow NOT ideal but my non-expensive ideas fell on deaf ears!
I dont have anything else on this month bar a house party on the 20th so I will just take a bottle of wine that is sat at home and that can be a free night!
Damn those bills! It did make me realise though I wasn't properly planning for everything ahead like I should be. I have changed the amount to move to my savings account each month to be £120 and it now includes:
Bills £20 - Elec and Gas as everything else is covered in a monthly payment to my housemate
Xmas £20
Holiday £30
Clothes £20
Birthdays £10
Dentist £10
Horses £10 - I have to pay insurance every year to enable me to ride where I do
I think that will give me a decent buffer for everything and hopefully help make it easier not to end up skinting myself when something unexpected happens as the £10 a day idea works nicely and should allow me to accrue money during the month to pay off extra or treat myself occasionaly - just not when bills come in!!
Hopefully Ebay will help this month, watchers have increased - still no bids yet! I think I might put that Harlequins shirt on, I think it would go for around £50 so that would be a lovely help and I just keep it in my wardrobe at least someone buying it might enjoy it. It was just quite sentimental that a friend got it for me when they did a photo shoot at Horse Guards Parade - he is Cavalry - but needs must and I can't even say I'm a real fan.
Boss told me today our letters informing us of our bonuses should be coming out soon and we get the money in end of Feb payday - WOOOPPPEEEEE!!!!
When I find out the amount I will
-Knock off a chunk for tax to work out how much I will get in the bank
-Decide on a % to boost the savings account - maybe a couple of hundred?
-Call Santander and find out the remaining balance on my loan - it is due to end in July and I pay £148.96pm off this IF I can cover the balance with my bonus then I want to clear it completely and then I can pay an extra £150pm off my CC. The balance will be £893.76 on this date
I don't know how much to expect to get as the economy isn't great, the company has performed well but we have had a few redundancies, I'm in a more profitable department this year so if I base it on last years and knock some off then about a grand is right and that would be lovely. To receive anything is a bonus and even if its less then I will still be happy and I will just buffer the savings with a hundred and pay the rest off my CC.Santander 0% £1,529.94

Oh cool I'm excited for you with the bonus coming. When I was in your situation I made most of my advances through windfalls like that. Have you factored this bonus when you talk about your DFD? If not, that extra 150 off the CC a month should dramatically bring it forward.
I've got a small pile going ready for the car boot. Wondering if I should just eBay it instead though. It's random odds and ends though so I reckon a car boot would be better. Just majorly lacking in motivation though. The weather doesn't help!
How was the wind at your place last night? My area was crazy bad. There were old christmas trees and rubbish all blowing down the street and all the windows were rattling. I half expected a cow to fly past like in that movie!December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

Thanks! Can't wait to find out how much just so I can plan and work out where to throw it! No, I haven't so it will bring it forward nicely!!
Yeah I have a billion books to take to car boot as putting them on ebay wont make anything once P&P is done, no we need nicer weather that is for sure! Currently sat on the 10th floor in the city and you should hear the wind! I can see the glass on the building next door wobble with the strain!
Hahaha! It was exactly the same at mine, we dont have double glazing so it was so loud! When I walked down the street this morning there was all sorts of rubbish everywhere!!
I think my MSE ways may finally be rubbing off on my flatmate, last night she sat and put loads of CDS on music magpie and sent her phones to mazuma making £80, I think she overspent over xmas as the amount of new clothes she bought was large! Still, if I help anyone to become MSE I'm happy!Santander 0% £1,529.94
