Just catching up on your diary and boy you have been busy!
Your colleagues sound very considerate. It really helps when people understand doesn't it? I think peer pressure is a real challenge when it comes to sticking to a budget.
Hope you enjoyed your ride this morning. I was out too, although Mr Ned was not in the best of moods so spent most of the time trying to make him go forwards!
Keep up the good work - I'm sure things will get a bit easier once the party season is over.
Have you updated your signature with the extra moeny you paid off this month?

Hey!
I always feel busy! haha and writing it all down makes me realise just how busy! Roll on the xmas break!
Yeah it helps so much, its nice they wanna help but even nicer they recognise to leave me to it!
It was lovely! Haha I had the opposite problem. My Mr Ned is meant to be walk and light trot only to rest his legs for a few weeks so I took him in the indoor school (OK that bit was for me) and the lads were in there exercising the young horses, Mr Ned is usually cool as a cucumber and not fussed but this am he kept trying to join on their ride and trot and canter with them - you honestly wouldnt know he was almost 20! So we had to do some listening exercises! lol Ie listen to ME!
Thanks, cant wait for Jan!
Ooh no!! Let me do that now, thanks for reminding meSantander 0% £1,529.94

Just catching up with your diary - you are doing really well.:D
I have been fairly busy and have been participating in some free training, however, I stopped this last week when the company decided that instead of providing free scratchcard bus tickets (they have loads) that those of us claiming dole money (me) should pay £18 a week and then go in on a Friday for a cash refund. I do not have £18 to pay for bus fares in the first place preferring to spend that money on other things e.g food and bills. However, after my first course (waiting for the exam) they did give me a £10 Love to Shop Voucher which has been put with a Debenhams Voucher and will be used towards something. I did get my food hygiene certificate though.
My flat is going through a transformation - it is being tidied, stuff is being packed into crates, binned or charity shopped. It is taking time because I am doing it all in 15 minute bursts because I figure that anyone can do anything for 15 minutes.
I have been having lots of NSDs and I managed to clear one debt totally, only a small one but it has now gone. The next one to tackle is the business account as my bank have decided to issue charges which take me over the overdraft limit so they charge me an additional £20 which gets me more into debt:mad: I swear that when that is cleared, I will close the account and open a building society account or something.0 -

Hey,
Thanks Horace
Annoying about the bus tickets but well done on getting your food hygiene certificate!
Be nice to treat yourself with those vouchers, hoping I get some for xmas too
That's such a good idea! I always put off tidying as it seems like a huge chore but I'll try your 15min technique!!
Well done on clearing a debt :T annoying about that account too but sounds like you've got it figured out, moving it sounds sensible.Santander 0% £1,529.94

This made me smile A LOT!!! I love hearing stories of people de-cluttering and tidying. It's because I'm so OCD myself.

Oh I have just googled those mugs- will have to get one for my husband! He just loves a spreadsheet!
Just wanted to say Hi! I think you are doing so well, maintaining a social life and paying off the debt is so very hard. I was in a similar situation, I worked in the City and had LOADS of parties to go to. Most were paid for by the company/ other banks but the problem I found was just as you say- the drink before/ after and the taxi home afterwards (I lived in a dodgy part of town, walking home from the tube later than about 9pm just wasn't an option).
I think you have handled it brilliantly, it's so hard talking to people about finances.Saving for an early retirement!0 -

Hi!
Perfect stocking filler!
Thank you very much, its hard isnt it!? Im in the city too and there is such a social/drinking culture! I'm hoping it will also help keep me healthier by turning down drinks!
I think that's the hardest bit, I can be quite good when I set my mind to something, I'll happily not drink or go home early but it communicating that under pressure thats hard when others dont know my situation... ah well! If it was an easy journey I wouldn't learn from it....Santander 0% £1,529.94

Well done for making your point LondonGirl. :T I know how hard it can be in that environment.
Kind and well meaning as your colleagues are though, they are a bit naughty for thinking the answer to the problem is just to sub you.Unfortunately debt busting (like weight loss
) involves changing your habits and they probably can't see that. It's also not fair to make you feel obligated.
I'm sure you will cope fine - keep strong. Setting money aside for a Christmas social fund is a good idea. Mind you, will you need a summer one as well? Are you the Ascot type? :cool:0
