    Hi everyone

Firstly, welcome domayne - I can't believe you read the whole lot! That is awesome thank you so much for sticking at it and posting! Hope you will stick around!

Thanks all for the xmas and new year wishes and support for dry Jan etc.

So the sad news is that Grandma passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning :(
She went into hospital on Saturday with fluid on her lungs and Mum and Dad rushed back from Cornwall to The Midlands to be with her as the hospital advised she wouldn't be with us much longer, anyway she rallied around and her breathing got more rythmic for a couple of days and she lasted until Tuesday.

I'm gutted, we're all so gutted she was a lovely woman and I will miss her loads, won't write much more like that as I'm tearing up now. I took Tuesday off work and luckily M is still off so he was with me and he looked after me well.

I worked from home yesterday and I'm back in the office today, the distraction is good but still feeling really down, the funeral is next thursday so I will have Thursday and Friday off work to go home for that.

Otherwise everything is OK, money is fine and on budget - actually that was one massive acheievement this Christmas that I need to pat myself (and YNAB) on the back for... we get paid early at xmas and this was the first year that it truly didn't matter when I got paid, that money was allocated to January in YNAB so having it in the bank made no difference at all whereas in previous years it would be gone before NYE then I'd struggle through all of January.

I put on a couple of kilos over xmas - to be expected but in the last week have lost half a kilo without reeeally trying that hard so I'll go easy on myself until the funeral is done then I'll crack on with project Get Skinny.

Work is fine, busy but OK. My Management Accountant has resigned.... imagine my sympathy (none) towards this... she is resigning as her boyfriend earns in 2 days what she earns in a month (£31k) so they don't need her to work and she will leave work to plan their wedding. Jelous? not much!

Thats all from me for now I think, back to work. Will log on soon and update you all.

    Love LG xx

  • Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes I was reading them through the last week or two and they meant such a lot until now I just haven't felt like talking/typing much really.

It's been a really tough couple of weeks Grandma's death hit me harder than I expected it to and I've been really up and down.

We had her funeral last Thursday which was so so hard but a nice day and service and she had a good turnout.

And now I'm still really sad and whenever I think about it all I get upset but I'm trying to be positive and enjoy life I guess it will just take a bit of time.

Not a huge amount to report otherwise, work has been difficult but I think everything else has made that harder to manage so I'm going to give it a month or two before I re-evaluate properly. My management accountant is leaving and I'm not allowed to replace her so I will have much more pressure on my shoulders. Also, the business isn't doing well at all and I'm struggling with the commute again so I'm considering options. To be honest I think for the business they need to replace the management accountant full time and hire a part time finance director who has experience of helping turnaround a poor performing company I just don't feel my limited experience is enough. Anyway these are my thoughts and I'll mull over them for a while, I don't want to make a rash decision while I feel down on life.

I have been managing to mostly eat healthily and have made a few gym appearances as well as my pilates DVD at home so feeling good in myself. I also have been keeping up dry january expect for a couple of glasses of wine after the funeral and some red wine the day after - it was much needed!

  • Oh LG of course its going to be sad- its an irretrievable loss and its fine for it to hit you harder than expected - I hope the couple of glasses of wine helped?

With regards to your work, its a difficult one isnt it? I do think give it at least another month before you decide what it might be that you do. Simply also as whatever happens at this time of year its a little depressing and things can seem worse than they are! Trust me I love love love my new firm but by the 6th January I was honestly thinking of walking out. You will get there!

Well done on looking after yourself even though things are tough x
