  • That sounds lovely Mark, I do enjoy my morning walk along the river!

You are so right, I am WFH tomorrow so unless they are able to get it sorted I will revert back to Santander which I can do online!

Well, yesterday didn't go as planned! At lunch my boss came over and said he was taking myself and colleague out for lunch around 1pm... well, we never made it back to the office! I got home around 9pm completely legless! No idea what go into us but it was good to get out of the office and bat about ideas over wine!

So needless to say I didn't run to waterloo so I can't log a tube trip and this morning when I arrived in London it was teeming it down and I didnt have waterproofs so I had to get the tube. Had to queue for ages to get onto the platform and i only arrived at the office 10 mins earlier than if I had walked the 3.2m!!! Crazy, hoping Friday is nicer weather.

We are about to hold a meeting with other tenants in our building and the council to try and come to a conclusion over what is acceptable with this office noise, "luckily" the building site is nice and loud today so it should demonstrate to the council what we are dealing with. Fingers crossed for a conclusion.

Have I mentioned the lease is up on our office building? Well we had found lovely new offices which would shorten my commute (the walking bit) by about 20mins so I was delighted. Unfortunatley it fell through at the last minute and now we have to find something in 3 weeks. I think we will go into temporary offices for a few months until we find something permanent, and just hire a few desks as most people can WFH and everyone else can hot desk. So I am keeping fingers crossed to be able to WFH a bit more during December.

I'm sure you've thought of this but given the difficulty in getting to a branch, have you considered First Direct for your new bank account? Especially good if you could transfer an old bank account to it and gain the £100 or is it £150 for doing so. You can always add another name to the account as you transfer or after doing so.

Hope you get the office move sorted soon, its disconcerting but it would be good if they find somewhere closer for your commute. Its so great when things are simple, especially in the morning or after a long day.

  • I'll have a look at First Direct, thanks JJ!

I know, like right now I'm feeling way too exhausted to run but the thought of the tube fills me with equal dread!

  • Morning all

Had a good day WFH yesterday, so much less tiring when I don't have to commute.

Walked this morning so that's another 3 tube trips saved and logged. I am out for dinner tonight so will be getting the tube after that.

Looks like M is going away, despite being medically downgraded from duties they're still sending him off. Great. And you just know when he gets more injured he'll be the one who gets it in the neck for taking too long to recover. Luckily he seems to be pretty set of resigning early next year so we are both looking forward to that.

The office search seems to have moved further east of London which is most unhelpful to my commute, I am hoping that they are all rubbish. What I do right now is boderline do-able for me, any further and I'd have to consider asking to have fixed days at home as it will be way too much travelling each day.

    Sigh, one of those days.

Off for lunch with a couple of friends now, that'll cheer me up :)

  • Morning everyone,

Another tube trip in the bank this morning, a lovely walk along the river.

I didn't get one Friday night as I got the tube. I cancelled dinner friday evening, I was just completely knackered and really not in the mood. My friend was v understanding though so that was good and I will try to make it up to her.

I went riding Saturday morning which was great, rode a lovely big horse called Rubin and the lady who runs it has said she's happy for me to ride unsupervised which is great so I can be more flexible.

Sunday while M was on rememberance parade I blitzed the flat and then sat down to watch the coverage at the cenotoph. Then we had 7 friends come over from London and we all went to the local for a roast which was lush!

Feeling a bit rundown/cold-y and generally knackered again today. The guy opposite me does a similar commute but minus the walking and he said it took him a while to get used to it so I really do hope i get used to it soon as I do just feel exhausted with it all.

I'm worrying too much about where the new office will be, if it's east of where we work now I think I will have to have a word with my boss about doing 1 or 2 days at home a week as I can't imagine spending even more time travelling than I do now. None of the offices they are currently viewing would be any better or the same as what I am doing now. argh.

Just had lunch, which was leftover turkey meatballs and cous cous from the freezer. I have the same for tomorrow too as the portion I defrosted was quite big I've split it in two.

Tonight we are cooking Diet Coke chicken, a friend who is on slimming world gave me the recipe and said her and her bf love it, so I am curious!

Oh we finally rang TSB at the weekend and managed to get the current account sorted! Woo hoo! Just need to wait for all the docs in the post, can't wait to have all the bills coming out of there! xxx

  • Hi

Dont worry about feeling tired etc, you have had a huge change in lifestyle moving. It makes a big difference as you are exercising and out and about more. You will settle into a way of life soon enough - who knows with your office move it could be that it works really well or it could be that you end up working from home more often. Good luck either way xx

  • Hey gang,

Thanks for the support Bright spark, I am going to ask today if i can have a regular 1 day a week where I can work from home i think it will make a big differnce. Going to ask for Wednesdays so that it breaks up the week.

I worked from home yesterday as we had an electrician coming to look at the fan in our en suite bathroom which has stopped working, only he brought the wrong part so has to go away and come back again.

I did half an hour on the x-box dancing game as well, so much fun and a really good workout, on one song I am now a semi-pro dancer! Lol

Walked/ran in this morning so with WFH yesterday I have 3 tube trips to add to the bank.

I am considering joining slimming world online for 3 months, my friend is doing the group sessions and has lost a huge amount of weight, I have about 1.5 stone to lose according to the internet and the ideal weight for my height, with the amount of walking, running, horse-riding and other bits I do this shouldn't be too hard if I eat right. And I am eating a lot better with my meal plans etc but my snacks are usually bad and I think with a few small changes it won't be too hard but I quite fancy the idea of having allotted syns each day so it allows me to be naughty within confines.... anyway, thinking about it!

Otherwise everything is good, just really hoping my boss approves the WFH day, i shall report back

  • How was the diet coke chicken?
    DFD September 2017
  • Really good!!! It was like chinese style chicken... Chopped up onions and fried them in fry-light with the chicken then added the tomatoes, diet coke and seasoning. Left it for 30mins and it thickened up and I servied it with brown rice and peas, was nice! Next is the fanta chicken!

Spoke to my boss and he was totally fine with my idea of working a day a week at home so long as I'm flexible on the day! SO happy I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders! I'm going to aim for the Wednesday to break up the week and its the only day I don't have regular meetings but when I need to I can change it to a different day if needed.
