  • Thanks Allybee - it hasn't gone online yet so hoping to be able to apply tomorrow. I love it, I mostly ate out of there this weekend and last week, I think it has nearly paid for itself already!!!

Thanks Erme - I am getting there. I feel it is much more do-able now I can cut my grocery bill a lot.

The weekend was nice... my lil bro came down with his partner. She hasn't been to London before so we did a nice long walk showing her Big Ben, The Eye, horse Guards, The Mall, The palace, Harrods, Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland. They were so tired after as soon as we got back to mine they zonked on the couch! Then, for their xmas pressie I took them to my favourite steak place in Hampstead which they loved.

They left quite early yesterday so I took advantage of having an completely open day and went to hobbycraft to pick up some bits to make xmas cards, I'm really pleased with them, I made 50 which altogether took me 6 hours! I think they were worth it though!

I have an interview tonight, its external. I had the first one a couple of weeks back and didn't hear anything so moved on. Anyhow turns out they did like me after all but were slow in organising the second round... wish me luck. It is for a smaller company but a more senior role with 2 people to manage so I think it could be a good move. I think I am done with being lost in big corporations just a little cog in a big wheel.

I make my own cards for most things LG but tend to get the card blanks (just white) off ebay. So cheap!!! I think I got like 200 in September for £16 (including delivery)

And they don't have to be fancy. Mine are just printed on my wee cheap printer (refill the cartridges myself) with a pic I've taken the last year printed off on normal card (anywhere) and cut out (craft guillotine). Simple and cheap and you are never short of a card!!!

Well done LG for getting all those cards done!!!

  • Thanks! I posted them all yesterday so hopefully people like them! After xmas this year I am going to chop all the nice bits off the cards I receive and keep them to make into cards next year!

I am really annoyed at myself this morning, on the way to my interview last night my oyster wouldn't let me through the barrier. I checked the balance at the machine and my season ticket had ran out and all my top up had since been used up. I completely forgot my season ticket was due as my old work did the loans for the annual season ticket which was deducted from your salary, saving you money.

In my last salary they deducted the balance outstanding to pay off the loan. So I have been taking my new salary but hadn't accounted that once my season ticket ran out i'd need to pay for travel. DARN. I just put a monthly season ticket on.... £120.60 CRIPES!

So I have just had to work that into my budget, meaning I am farther away from paying my credit card off :(

However in other MSE news, I needed to stock up on shampoo and conditioner this morning, there were some for half price in boots so I got those AND paid for it with points. I also made 2xlunches last night so the next two days should be spend free.

The interview last night went really well, I came away with a good feeling. I have received some initial feedback from the recruiter and he said I really impressed and they have rejected one of the three final candidates so it is between me and one other. However the other guy has worked in a similar role and has more experience whereas for me this would be a step up into management in a new industry so it depends if they want someone who can develop in the role or someone who can develop within it.

    Fingers crossed.

  • Oh the internal role has also come up today I will apply but the external role really would be a fantastic opportunity if I was given a chance.

  • Hi! Wow look at you with all these opportunities :) great news you deserve it.

I hope they both go well.

the travel card - goodness me so much isnt it? Living in London is amazing but its so much money isnt it? Hampstead is lovely - I am SE at the moment but Zone 1 - mental that its cheaper than North but zone 3!

Hope you still carry on with your MSE ways xx

  • I have done something good and MSE this morning, I have transferred the balance on my Lloyds card to the Tesco 0% interest 0% fee balance transfer card... 0% for 12 months. The balance on my Lloyds cars was due to start attracting a decent amount of interest and I saw this one, no brainer. The card will obviously be cut up as soon as it arrives. I'll budget to pay it off in 12 monthly instalments but at the end of each month will throw any left over cash at it.

I really didn't end yesterday well, I had an awful journey home, making me later for riding. Then as I was about to jump in the car to the stables the recruiter rang about the external role and said they were concerned I hadn't worked at senior level before (Well, yes, this is VERY clear from my CV and the TWO interviews you have had with me, yet you still dragged me through the process) and then the car journey was slow making me EVEN later for riding. So I had 15 mins to ride in as she has a client after me, during which the wind decided to blow up causing the horse to spook and be tense. Anyhow, stayed on board but as I was holding him ready for the next girl my foot ended up under his hoof and all his body weight. OUCH.

Needless to say I was grumpy when I got home and went straight to bed. Still feeling, stressed, grumpy, peed off today but determined to make it a good day and pleased with the Tesco result.
I am going to run home from work tonight, that'll sort me out. When I get home, me and the flatties are going to put up our xmas tree with mulled wine and watch an xmas film... lush.

  • OH I also emptied my pound coin pot today, £58 ... nice!!! I am short on my xmas budget so I will use this for that and then any extra can go to LLoyds. I have 6 items ending on ebay today too, only one has any watchers and no bids... I think I started them too high.

Sounds like a horrid day LG.

I just spent £8+ posting an old tablet pc to a family with special needs. Praising God though extra breakfast with friend only cos £2.45. Originally we were planning to go to the filling station which would have been about £7.50+

And I've just realised all the round robins I've been sending out have misinformation as of 3 weeks ago :p

    But life goes on :)

Great news about the pound coin pot .....go LG!!!!

My good news was not needing the 'latest' smart phone so got one off amazon (downgrade) in the summer and got my sim only deal down to £7 a month from £12.

If there's one thing vodafone taught me about phones - the latest smart phone is not worth paying for by a huge PCM tariff. It's just the latest smartphone on credit and can cost double or triple what it's worth. When you then look at the price of the smart phone (not on credit) it makes you look at it differently - not a bad thing!

Last night I ran home from work clocking up 4.6 miles, I met my friends at the gym this morning and did an easy 2 miles as I want to run to work tomorrow and don't want to bust my legs! Somehow this weekend I need to fit in 6/7 miles but I have my bf's birthday and a ball so not sure how that will work!

My gym buddy was in Vegas last week, she gave me some pressies today of gym leggings and headbands, she is so sweet I love them!!

I need to chase HR on my job application, you're supposed to get a confirmation that it has gone through but I haven't had anything and neither has the manager recruiting.

Had an unexpected spend today of £8 and tonight I'm going for a nandos with a friend but will try and spend my nandos points on that.

Tomorrow is the bf's birthday, we're meeting his school friends after work for dinner and drinks which I have budgeted for.
