    Hi guys,

hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was great, the 30th birthday was hilarious (I was dressed as one of two Bananas in Pyjamas) and didn't overspend, in fact I looked in my cash pot this morning and I had over £100 in there where I expected to see about £40 so that was a nice surprise and means I can meet a friend for dinner tonight - he has a groupon voucher for a chinese near leicester square.

I've spent the morning re-thinking my money spreadsheet, with this current account that gets me 5% interest I need to pay in £1000 a month from an external source, my salary gets paid into my other current account and with changing jobs its not easy to change that just yet. So, instead I thought I would open a basic account at HSBC, that way I can just transfer £1,000 in and out of there each month and I could use this account as my "spending" account which I withdraw my cash budget from each week and just use the 5% current account as a savings account effectively.
Also HSBC have free coin counter machines so whenever I empty my piggy bank I can just take the coins there.

M (the bf) and I should be able to book our first holiday together this week. When I am in between jobs he has 3 weeks off work so we are going to have a week or so abroad in the sun, VERY exciting and luckily I wont need to buy any new summer clothes other than a bikini so shouldn't dent the finances too much! I have enough to take a little from my ISA to pay for it so I am happy that for the first time ever I don't have to pay for a holiday using credit!

Wow thats a lot! We'll have to watch out for that as spending money will be short!

Woop 100 pages, almost 2,000 posts!

I am going out of my mind with boredom at work, I have no work and everyone else doesn't really have anything they need help with. I am beyond bored, I have tweaked my super spreadsheet as much as it can be tweaked.

Maybe today I'll do my continued professional development, at least thats somewhat work related.

    Roll on next Friday

6.5 days left at this office. Actually got some work to do today, yesterday I was going so crazy I snuck out an hour early to meet M. Had a lovely evening, saved money by instead of going to a restaurant we got Nandos and took it to Regents Park to eat in the sun.

We then went back to mine and bought our friends wedding gifts. Luckily the gift list had a good selection at all price ranges so spent £50 between the two of us buying a pestle and mortar, wine carafe, wooden spoon and a pyrex jug! haha!

Just came back from lunch in the sun, finsihed reading a really sad book and now going to go a find a more upbest book to download next. That one left me a bit depressed after!

Tonight I am horseriding and tomorrow night I have organised leaving drinks for myself, booked a nice outside bar near the office since its supposed to carry on being a scorcher!

I did say pre MSE days in tenerife - nowadays they would just be told to drink the pool (not really) or pay for it themselves.
bored at work - isn't that what the internet is for??

I have learnt so much from these guys - the parent web site is now completely commercial but there are a hardcore of experience investors in a number of different styles

    * eg HYP - High Yield Portfolio - (Dividend) Income Investing
    * The Banking Board (mainly about fixed income)
    * Value - About Value Investing
    * Investment Strategies - General discussion eg asset allocation, psychology

    You'll find you favorites.

You'll recognise who really knows what they are talking about

(*Now that you are saving of course - when you have a nest egg - you'll need to do something with it)

    3 days to go

Had a great sesh in the gym this morning despite not sleeping well last night. There were 2 spiders (not big) in my room which my flatmate humanely removed for me but then I was restless and tetchy and couldn't sleep!

Some colleagues are taking me for a leaving lunch today which I am looking forward to, not been to this restaurant and its on the 34th floor of a skyscraper so looking forward to the views!

I was supposed to be seeing a freind for drinks tonight but she cancelled, I would have liked to have seen her but to be honest kinda happy at being able to get an early night and save the £££. I think I'll give my room a good clean instead so i feel better about sleeping in there tonight.

I went shopping after work last night and bought a few bits for my holiday, they were needed but I didnt have any clothes budget left so I am going to have to dip into my savings.

To be honest with having a month off, although I have planned my money I can see me having to dip into savings a bit until I get my new wage. Not really ideal or what I wanna do but at least I am not racking up debt and with my new salary I should be able to top up savings pretty easily.

Still waiting for my ebay dress buyer to pay me for the dress, only £6.69 inc postage but still...

I have two more dresses tonight which have a minimum of £10 each on so I hope they go, they both have watchers so keep ya fingers crossed for me!

Hope all well with you guys!
