  • Hi all,

Hope you had lovely weekends. I am still in recovery I think.

Had a great (but over-spendy) night on Friday for the bf birthday. Tried a run on Saturday morning, managed 3 very slow and difficult miles. The ball on Saturday was tremendous fun, all paid for, open bar, cocktail fountain, chocolate fountains, xmas dins! Stayed up partying till 3:30am and spent yesterday recovering. We went and saw my friends new puppy yesterday too, a little Visla. Blooming gorgeous thing!

I had some BRILLIANT news on Friday. That external role I interviewed for which I had assumed was going to be a no-go called and offered me the role! Couldn't believe it! Its a massive step up to financial controller for a small IT consultancy, going to be a big learning curve but a challenge I think will help me prosper and do well! I will manage a team of 2 and I hope that I will be a good manager, I will certainly try!

I handed in my resignation at work this morning and will start at the new place next Monday. We have agreed I will move over on my current salary with a guaranteed £3k pay rise after 3 months and the potential for a 10% bonus upon completing my probation after 6 months. I get to go back to working in the city which I enjoy and will be near my gym buddies. Can't wait.

    EEP!

  • Thanks guys!! I am totally chuffed, I didn't think I would get it due to the fact I haven't really been a manager before so when they offered it to me I nearly fell off my chair!! I can't wait to get stuck in, and over all I will be about £230 a month better off once my pay rise kicks in in a few months.

Only 3.5 days left to push out here. My boss was OK with me yesterday after I handed in my notice but today has decided to pretend I don't exist and has resorted to communicating over snot-o-grams. The funny thing is, I have her for secret santa (exchanging on Friday) so do I be naughty or nice?! lol!

ALSO... when the head of finance email earlier to let the dept know I was leaving, it turns out another girl who has also been here less than 3 months handed in her resignation yesterday and is also leaving Friday! The staff turnover here is terrible, I remember when I joined, my email had been live since May and had been receiving departmental announcements and I was horrified at the amount of leavers.

  • I had to spend AGAIN today, my work shoes finally gave in (they have lasted me fabulously so I'll be sad to see them go) and with starting a new job Monday I decided to re-invest and spent £81.50, they should be delivered tomorrow. I know I could have gotten a cheaper pair BUT I have a cheque sitting at home from my uncle for xmas for £100 and I'm sure they'll be better quality than a £20 pair and last me longer.... so HAPPY XMAS TO ME!

I was browsing around the boards and came across the saving for Xmas 2015 thread.... I already have xmas 2015 in my budget but it would be MUCH better if I could save for it using change during the year rather than increasing my expenses. So, I had another mini spend on amazon and bought a Tin which holds £500 in £1 or £2 coins. and you have to use a tin opener to open it. So, I'm going to do this instead, because I use cash all the time I often come home at the end of the day with pound coins and shove them in a tin.

  • Picked up my friend from Heathrow last night, SO nice to see her. she needed to be in the office early this morning so we got the tube together and I came to the gym near work to go for a run. Did a really nice 5k route, starting on the Strand, through admiralty arch, up to the palace, looped around st james park lake, came back to Westminster, over Westminster bridge, along the river, past the London eye, over waterloo bridge and back to the gym. Lovely weather for it too!

    Same again tomorrow I think!

I have no work to do for the rest of the week I am thoroughly bored and my manager still seems to be ignoring me. Ah well. Only 1 more day after today!

Time to go and lurk in other peoples diaries!

Och so made up about the job news LG.

Debt busting can wait a wee while. Remember my phrase? It's not going down (or having a debt busting blip) that's the crime but staying down. You can so do this :)

The work shoes I ordered arrived and are HORRIBLE! Not like the picture at all, so I am taking them back tonight and will pick out a different pair.

and then, onto dinner and cocktails with my German friend. She knows I cant drink much as I have a 7 mile run planned tomorrow..... my longest yet! Wish me luck!

Hope you all have LOVELY weekends, I will try and log on and update you on the job as soon as a I can xx
