Hi Londongirl, I have read through some of your diary today and am very inspired how your have turned your spending habits around, thank you, I will be subscribing!
I moved to Devon a few months ago from Surrey, it was here or London (polar opposite places I know!). We do love it here but miss London ALOT, love it there.
Very jealous of your Cali trip, I hope you have a fab time!Total debt £5203.68 :doh:_pale_:whistle: Savings £15Target weight 135lbs Current 240+lbs"Where's the real food?...Eat what? There's nothing here. Gandhi ate more than this.""Oh, no. To live.... to live would be an awfully big adventure."0 -

I'll be a bit financially tight for a few months until I get the deposit back on the old place but it is do-able and I have help. Me moving out so soon won't go down well so I'm a bit worries about that and how to word it without causing a fall out. I may even say I've decided to focus on getting on the property ladder and need to live somewhere cheaper to fund it or something.
There is an affordable homes show tomorrow in London, its free and I have a ticket so if I have time I will swing by and see if its a completely pie in the sky idea or if I could manage it.

You could just say your every moment in the property is a living hell and you would rather poke your eyes out with pins than spend a moment longer living under an Amazonian dictatorship

Make sure you get your deposit back, and if there is a hint of any nonsense go straight to the MSE rentals board which is populated by vert friendly ferocious professional tenants and equally friendly and ferocious professional landlords who hate amatuers!!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thanks for all your posts everyone x
Hehe Mark, I'm not far from telling her that now but keeping focused on two weeks away and as soon as I'm back I can get looking around!
Justajamjar - get studying!!! hehe I definitely spent some of my CIMA study time on this site, but I used it to vent my stress and got some good tips for studying! I'd just advise to plan and give yourself some "me" time too, it helps to take breaks and give your brain a break! Good luck for November!!! Also studying is good for debt busting, I found it was the best excuse not to go out and spend money!!
Had the house to myself this weekend which has been nice, yesterday was Ladies day at the local rugby club, it was really good to see everyone although I admit to drinking too much cava! haha the ticket was £25 included food and drink all day so it was quite a cheap day out.
On Friday I went for dinner with my American friend, M, her Dad and step mum who we will spend time with in California are in London so it was nice to meet them before we went over. They were staying at The Savoy and treated us to dinner there, I felt so spoiled! It was lovely to be treated!!! I need to think of a gift I can take over when we go to stay, to say thank you.
I dropped my phone though yesterday and the screen smashed, I thought I was fine as I had Carphone Warehouse insurance but when I took it to the shop I still had to pay £60 excess!!!!! I feel like I've been done since I've paid £15 a month for a year and they still charge me so much! Is insurance a huge waste of money? Its been sent off for repair and should have it back this week.
Really busy week at work ahead but, I'm struggling to summon up my usual motivation when it gets busy since I'm stressed at home and at work I'm lacking that relaxing place to wind down and re-coup. Going to go in early tomorrow to get started and will go for a swim and Jacuzzi on the way home to wind down.
So unbelievably ready for this holiday!!!!Santander 0% £1,529.94

Another bargain yesterday LG - dovetailed sideboard in shoot room. Only just fits in my wee lounge (don't know if it still looks like an obelisk) and back kills this am but still. I need something for cassette tapes (I still play cassettes). I have a basket but it doesn't fit in the sideboard.
And new small furry yesterday (adopted) so she is just settling in nicely - I've name her periwinkle...So now I have Constance; Dorcas (biblical); Crocus and Periwinkle. Vets just chuckle over my names for my pets...
I feel a kenwood chef moment coming on if I have back ache LOL

Hey!
Well I'm back from California! I had the BEST time, was so good to get away! The weekend in Vegas was unbelievable that place is like adult disneyland!!! Last week the jet lag was bad but feeling a bit more "with it" today!
It was back down to earth with a bump though! As soon as I got back last Sunday, things kicked off at home I had a row with the girl which owns the house and I ended up packing a bag and going to stay with a friend. It was after that, that I decided to hand in my notice for that house. Its just too stressful, the commute is awful and the way the house is run just doesn't do it for me!
Last Tuesday I viewed a flat back in the area I used to live before, its £180 cheaper a month :j, living with 2 great guys, and right by the tube on the same line as my office so I'll save over an hour a day off my commute.
They called on Wednesday to offer me the flat and I took it!
I knew when I took it that I was taking a risk, I have to give 2 months notice on the current place but the new place wanted me ASAP since the room is already empty. Luckily I think S has found someone to take my room almost immediatley so I'm hoping I won't have to pay renton two rooms at all, fingers crossed!!! I am moving in a week on Saturday and a friend with a van has kindly offered to help me move.
I was even more pleased with my choice when one of my currents flatmates, T, brought 6 friends home with her after a night out on Friday and kept the whole house awake from 2-6am, being so rude when politely (and later on im-politely) asked to keep it down. They smoked in the house, stained the brand new carpets, left the downstairs looking like a bomb had exploded, left windows open and the oven on - luckily S went down after they quietened down and turned it off!
Moneywise, could be better, I over spent in California so my credit card isn't looking great and the debt has gone up. If the house works out for the best then I can pay off £700 next month and it'll take a couple of months to clear I just need to be sensible over xmas and by March next year all the debt will be gone!
