  • Thanks Erme :)

Feeling much better as the week has gone on, tonight I am having a quick drink after work and then my flatmates fella is cooking us all supper!
Tomorrow is horse-riding followed by gym
Sunday, I am going to cheer my friend on in the half marathon!

I managed to get up and go to the gym this morning, I am no where near as fit as I used to be! I feel good for it though and am going to keep going regularly again to help take my mind off things! The gym near work has just been re-furbished and is looking flippin wonderful, I need to make friends with the jacuzzi!

Got a super nice email today when I got to work, I presented some accounts at a board meeting earlier this week and one of the directors email my FD telling her what a good job I did, she forward it on, cc-ing in my manager and echoing his comments, I was really touched!

I'm already noticing how not having my credit card in my purse has curbed my spending, I'm doing OK off the cash in my current account. I'm even paying little bits off the credit card balance each day.

I need to call Lloyds about the bounced payment as they're still showing my credit card as cleared and it certainly isn't! WISH IT WAS!!!!

Hope you all have a good weekend xx

  • Some better news regarding the debts today, I just logged onto Lloyds and Natwest have popped in the balance transfer of £1,600 in there. That account is now actually a little in credit! ha!

Haven't received the paper work yet from NatWest and I'm not home tonight so hopefully that will be waiting for me when I get home tomorrow. I'm so releived I've avoided that nasty interest. And I'm doing so much better with my spending by leaving my credit card at home, I'm sticking to my daily budget again so I've no doubt that once I've cleared the balance transfer then I'll be back on track.

Work is OK, I'm having mixed feelings about the house I've moved into now I've settled in a bit more but going to give it a bit longer and see how it goes. I'm really feeling ready to have my own space and live alone but I would never do that whilst renting in London.

Have a good day all x

Boo LG, last weekend sounds rubbish! No wonder you spent Saturday in the pub with your lovely friends. Poor boy has no idea what he's missed out on. My experience is that women are much better at mourning a relationship for an appropriate amount of time then moving on. I'm sure you'll move on with grace and style. Think of it as something being removed from your life to create space for something amazing to appear!

Phew, the money thing seems to have sorted itself out without much damage. Well done for being so on the ball!

And this week seems to be much more positive :D Horse riding, gym, jaccuzi (jealous!!), credit where it was due at work - all good stuff!

Are you considering moving out of London?
  • Thanks Siouxsie, thats a really good way of thinking of it! I'm feeling miles better about the whole thing and right now just happy being single and spending time with friends and on myself, in the gym etc. Feeling much better in myself for exercising more again.

I do sometimes think about moving out of London but my life is here now and I don't feel ready yet to move on. Although the cost of living outside of London would be cheaper, my salary would be a LOT lower so I'm not sure I'd be that much better off to be honest.

My living arrangements need to be re-evaluated early next year, in March when I move to the new company I'm due to receive around £10k back from my shares (as long as the share price doesn't plumment!) and I know these shared ownership house buying schemes would be looking more affordable to me then but I dont have enough experience in them and need to do a lot more research. I think I am ready to have my own space and live by myself but its just too expensive to rent like that and I can't justify it.

Can't wait for this weekend, my friend M and I are heading to my parents to stay with Mum and Dad and chill out with the family will be so nice to escape the city and see everyone!

  • The Natwest credit card and agreement were at home waiting for me last night, I've registered for the online banking etc and more importantly shredded the credit card! The transfer fee was MUCH less than I thought so it only cost me £14 to do the balance transfer and saved me hundreds in interest if I hadn't gotten round to it!

Had a good weekend back home, went riding, took my niece bowling and spent time with Mum and Dad, feel stressed with work and the house but just plodding on and focusing on my holiday next month. It is so needed!

My sister only just started renting on her own a couple of years ago. I know she lives in London but I don't know where. I'm not allowed to know.

I told her 12 years ago when she moved to London to put her name down for a council flat but she didn't listen. Might be worth considering? I don't know. I am in social housing due to my health issues and it's small but it's home :)

I was just looking at your sig London Girl and when we first got to know you it was like £11k or something horrendous. You can do it. Don't be disheartened :)

    Hugs

  • Money is going OK, payday tomorrow so I am looking forward to getting that organised etc. I need to buy my dollars for my California trip and need to be very thrifty for the rest of the month when I am in the UK.

I have a meeting this afternoon to discuss the move to the new company with our teams new manager. I want to discuss with him the potential for me working for a different line manager as my current one is beyond difficult and I'm ready for a change.

I'm really not enjoying my living arrangements right now, the girl who owns the house is so controlling of everything that I feel like a guest and not an equal paying tenant. Whenever a person in the house is out or not there she really b8tches about them, recently I've been avoiding spending time at home so I hate to imagine what's been said of me. She really expects everyone to sing to her tune and if you don't "particpate" you're black listed! I really need to move somewhere where I don't have this pressure to be a performing monkey! When I come home I need to relax and right now I get so anxious and stressed about going home that I'm permanently stressed!

As soon as I get back from California I will hand in my 2 months notice and get looking for a houseshare. I will be able to find something cheaper so I can work towards saving towards the deposit after debt is paid off and look into one of the shared ownership schemes to find myself a nice little one bed place.

Going to get all my plans down on paper later so that I can feel better knowing I have a plan in place to stick to. I wish I could start looking to move out now but my contract says the earliest I can hand in my notice is 1st November. The problem is, in London its rare that places are advertised more than a month in advance so I'll need to hand in my notice before I secure somewhere which I don't like doing but I'm sure if I look hard then I'll sort it!

Ooh that doesn't sound good - definitely best off out of there I think! ive always been wary about living with landlords for that reason - i'd never feel that comfortable! but if you can make a saving that's good! When are you off to California, I'm very jealous!

  • Thanks both, I'm heading off to California mid-October (have budgeted my spending money of course!!!) so when I get back I'll be able to start looking around and hand in my notice.

I'll be a bit financially tight for a few months until I get the deposit back on the old place but it is do-able and I have help. Me moving out so soon won't go down well so I'm a bit worries about that and how to word it without causing a fall out. I may even say I've decided to focus on getting on the property ladder and need to live somewhere cheaper to fund it or something.

There is an affordable homes show tomorrow in London, its free and I have a ticket so if I have time I will swing by and see if its a completely pie in the sky idea or if I could manage it.
