    Happy new year!!!!!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful night and did better at not overspending than I did! Will be living on beans on toast for the rest of the month!

Last night was brilliant fun but I am really suffering today. Feel awful!

Day 1 of the dryathalon and my body is definitley ready for a break from the booze, going to spend today nursing my hangover and relaxing before back to work tomorrow.

January is my busiest month at work and its usual to be in the office until 10pm most days but if we stay that late we can get dinner and a taxi home and claim it back. Hopefully I can avoid the weekends this year

Back to bed I go, the room is spinning again

If i try really hard I should be done in 18 months!:o

Are you doing the dry January challenge? I am but also hoping to carry on for the rest of the year.

I managed a couple of bottles of pink fizz last night, was 'told' to steer clear of my son in laws who were tempting me to join in their drinking games which meant they were drinking port, wine and beer mixed!!

They were both very ill in the night.:rotfl:but i woke up with a relatively clear head, although I am tired today.

Have started clearing the home office and opening letters and pulling pieces of paper together today have made a list of people to call tomorrow. Insurance company to cancel my renewal as I can get it half price elsewhere and also sky to cancel one of my multi rooms subs and get my telephone and broadband cheaper with plusnet.

Was going to cancel after school care club to try and save money but have decided to suck it up and just make sure that when i do have her in after school club that I work hard enough for me to not have to work when I get home...

  • Ah cool, that will fly by before you know it!

Yes I am! Am hoping it will help me drink less afterwards as I do drink too much.

Sounds like you are very organised! Good work on having the clear head, I still felt rough this morning!

  • For the first time in YEARS I have early some interest! Only 10p but its feels so good to be earning it rather than paying it so am quite chuffed!

Just spent £2.99 today on grapes. Ate half and have the other half left for tomorrow

Not drinking was fairly easy today, Friday and Saturday will be the challenge me and FM have plans to go to the gym both days to really get the most out of this new health kick and hoping by getting into good habits this early in the year will help us keep them up!

Not sure what gym kit you are good at, but I find the indoor rower (Concept 2 Erg) very good as you can exhaust yourself in 1 minute or keep going for half an hour or more. its about strength of the stroke and number you do per minute

Make sure you check out your how to row technique and make sure you put the lever in the middle (5 or 6). With your horsey leg strength and flexibility you should be good at it.

I love it - although have been on a break at for a few months :o:o - there are always some numbers to look at and you are sat on your backside whilst having the best work out ever

most gym instructors don't really know the ins and outs but plenty of expert help on the rowing forums. helped me lose 3.5 stone in 12 months

  • Hey guys,

Still alive, time seems to fly by at the moment!

Thanks for the gym tips Mark, I have been putting them into practise

I was told last week that the deal fell through that would affect my role, so for now there will be no change. Which is good but it does make me wonder that there will be some other change or re-structure as the business isn't performing as well as it should currently. We will see.

Work was crazy busy last week I was there until 10pm Weds night but luckily I could expense back the taxi home, this and next week will be worse then hopefully it will go back to a more normal level!

Yesterday I had a really productive Saturday, I went to the gym then spent 6 hours cleaning out my room! Been wanting to do it for a while. I took 3 suitcases of books to the charity shop and binned 5 bin bags of cr:p I'd been hoarding! Then I got rid of my bookcase and turned my desk into a dressing table. Now my room is clutter free, clean and looks a lot bigger!

I went out and bought a frame today and now my accounting certificate is proudly on the wall!

13 days into January and not a drop of alcohol has been touched, its not been too hard bar a couple of occasions! Last Thursday I was invited to a party and when I turned up the only drink being served was champagne, as much as you liked, free. To ask them for an orange juice was unbeliveable will power I can tell you!

Work sent an email round on Thursday communicating the possibility of the bonus being postponed from February pay packet to March or April which was a bit disapointing as I'd really been looking forward to throwing it at debt but at least that is a positive to know that one is coming and by the time it comes it is more likely that it might just pay off everything else I owe!

I haven't factored any bonus into my calcs and currectly my DFD is May so fingers crossed it could be March or April depending on when they pay the bonus and how good it is!

I had a statement from Nationwide of my current loan and the amount that I'd have to pay to clear it today is much lower than I thought as I'd evenly spread the interest out over the life of the loan whereas in reality the interest is much lower now that the loan is lower and so I've paid off more that I thought! Siggy updated to reflect this!

I don't want to wish my life away but now the DFD is in sight I really just want it to come so that I can move on with saving for all the these I want to acheive this year!

That's all great to hear - bonuses are just that bonuses - don't rely on em but they're great when they arrive

As far as rowing is concerned here's a couple of things - the better you row the easier it becomes to really exhaust yourself !!
