  • Thanks Mark. That will help make sure I'm getting the most out of my workout!

From my friend in HR I have heard the bonus is being paid end of March and we will find out the about mid March and that is due to be announced officially soon. Fingers crossed!

Last week I was looking at my online banking and saw I could upgrade my current account to one with a better interest rate. It doesn't cost anything per month but have to pay in at least £1k per month, which I do. So I upgraded that and also applied for another current account same as I had before with no need to pay in a certain amount.

I will keep the upgraded account as the one my salary goes into and bills come out of, each month I'm going to transfer my spending allowance into the basic account and only take that debit card in my purse with me

I think it will be easier this way to keep control of my spending if I can't update my spreadsheet for a few days, I can just use the banking app on my phone to check the balance

Mum has just text to say my brothers girlfriend is in labour!!!!!! Eeeeeeekkkkk!!!!!! So excited! It sounds like its happening slowly as they've sent them home for now, fingers crossed it all goes well

Luckily I have already booked train tickets to go home next weekend so can meet my new nephew then

    :)

This weekend is going to be spent working unfortunately, we have to prepare our year end accounts and the deadlines to have them to the auditors are so slim so it's all wagons roll to try and complete them by the deadline!

  • Hi gang,

    Payday tomorrow!!!!

I have my new account good to go, going to transfer my months spending into the new account tomorrow morning and pay debt from the other as well.

The couple of weeks at work have been so hard, haven't finished working before 10pm but I managed to meet my main deadline last night and if I take my laptop home and work this weekend I should be less stressed next week

I keep getting headaches and finding it hard to sleep, last night I got about 4 hours despite being exhausted

BUT I feel compared to this time last year I know Im doing a much better job and when I had finished all my accounts and the files as back up I was really proud of them as sad as it sounds! So, its hard but its worth it

I cannot wait to go home this weekend and meet my new nephew! Its also my Grannys birthday so need to buy her a wee pressie at some point

Right, back to work for an hour

  • Couldn't sleep in so I got up and did my online banking!

Have paid £600 off my Post Office credit card, that now has £950 remaining

Have paid £69.99 to my parents and now I owe them nothing!

My loan DD for £104.79 will go out next week, that will leave the loan with a balance of £2,804.65

Time to update the siggy with all that! I'm getting close to the 75% mark now....

So pleased its Friday today, got a busy day at work but plan to unwind in the gym this evening and cannot wait to go home to see my new nephew!!!

  • Congrats on paying off so much debt, and congrats on the new nephew! :D
    ..
  • Thanks so much mellonicoley!!! I'm on the train now waiting to depart London

Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get on the train for a while. I got a phone call yesterday lunchtime from the girls at the stables to say that my friend, A, had had a riding accident and was in A&E. This is my friend who has only just recovered from thyroid cancer and who has only been back in the country for two weeks having been in SA.

First ride back and the horses were as fresh as daisies, hers was playing up particulary badly. After while trying to exercise the horse to tire her out, she slowed the horse down to rest and it went wild and managed to throw her off - onto hard ground from the weather, the fall would have been OK and she would have walked away but the horse then span around and trampled her.

She's on a major trauma ward with 7 broken ribs, air on her lungs a very bruised and swollen face, luckily nothing broken in her face. To be honest she is very lucky that it wasn't much worse from the sounds of it.

I spent yesterday evening with her and she is feeling so sorry for herself, she needs to find a job and somewhere to live but now she is on hold until her ribs mend. Last night the doc came and told us that her injuries were such that they would mend themselves with time and no surgery was needed.
But during the night she found it hard to breathe and after more x-rays they have seen the air on her lungs increase and they are putting a chest drain in this morning

I'm worried sick about her and just wish I could be with her. She's going to be kept still this morning and later she has more visitors. I had arranged for one of our friends to go and see her and have made him agree to wear his officers uniform to cheer her up!

Need to log on to work now and try to concentrate on that. I really hope she mends well, she's extremely tough but I do worry!

    :(

    xx

    that's bad news to hear

sounds like you did a great job getting your friend through the trauma, now she just needs time to get better

don't feel bad about leaving her for the weekend she's in the right place - and new born nephews won't want to wait to meet their auntie - and you'll be back soon enough with plenty of pics to keep her entertained with

  • LG, so sorry to hear about your friend's accident! It sounds truly awful! But like you say, it could've been a lot worse, and it sounds like she'll be alright, she just needs lots of rest and good hospital care. So try not to worry too much whilst you're spending time with the family :)
    ..
  • I hope your friend has a speedy recovery. Sounds like a painful accident. I'm sure she will be better soon, it sounds like they're keeping a close eye on her. Try not to worry too much.
Hope you have had a lovely time visiting your new nephew!
