It's before 5, I'm at home, feet up with a glass of red - because don't I deserve it!

I really feel today showed the improvement that the hard work we put in this week has made.

Let me tell you about the exam paper because it made me giggle

First Paragraph went along these lines...
D Plc have decided to expand into Country Y (in the case study it gave u background about instability in this country) blah blah blah....
One month ago The Sales Director and 3 employees were sent to Country Y to establish a base in the country and begin work... blah blah blah.... there has been no contact from your employees for a while and police have confirmed that they have been taking hostage by a terrorist group who have given you a deadline of 8pm tomorrow to pay a ransom of £3m. (I text my Mum this and she replied "I thought you were doing an accountancy exam??)

Initially thought flippin heck! Then re-grouped and read on...

There were 3 other really major issues and 2 purely ethical issues.

Thought back to what we were told about keeping ethical and commercial issues separate and figured the paying of the ransom was more of an ethical rather than business decision.

That only left me with 3 issues when I needed 4, so figured, well the hostage situation would raise questions about whether we stayed in the country.

Rolled with it and left the exam feeling happy with what I wrote but unsure if I approached it right.

In the debrief this afternoon, I was bang on! And even got the right issues in the rest of the problems presented, calculations were bang on and recommendations were good. So althought I haven't had my marked paper back yet, going by what the tutor went through this afternoon I am so pleased that it seems to be coming together!

I just REALLY REALLY hope that in the real thing something really horrid doesnt come up! My sitting is under a new examiner so the college is unsure what approach the paper may take but hope that the have prepared us for all eventuallities.

I also did well on timing and managed to go back at the end and tweak bits, I got in a good few real life examples too. I know I'm biased but I really hope I get a good mark, it would really send me into the real thing with confidence!

So I'm having a night off, I have got two friends on their way over who will join me, my FM and his GF, I've been to Mr S and bought ingredients to make a thai curry and it came in at under a tenner.

Tomorrow I'm meeting my study buddy from work, B, at a college in central London. We have made a plan to meet at 10, do one mock, in full, to time, mark each others, discuss and compare to examiner answer. Then spend some time going over strategic theory models as the new examiner is specialised in strategy rather than technical theory.

    Enjoy the long weekend everyone!!!!

I have also decided to not sell on ebay unless it is worth it

Last week I sold a pair of shoes for £7.99 inc postage

Posted them and left good feedback

Now, the buyer is claiming a refund on the shoes and Paypal said if I cant prove postage they'll take the money back. I sent them from work so I dont have this and I only just broke even on the sale any after buying P&P

    ARGH

The buyer didnt even give them a chance to arrive, she claimed a refund the day after I clicked the button to say I'd dispatched which makes me think this was planned. Nor did she message me to ask if they sent.

    Off to change my feedback

Well done on the mock exam - you deserve that glass of wine! Especially well done for keeping your head and not letting the hostage situation throw you! :D

Shame about the ebay experience. I once had one who returned an item saying it was damaged - well it was when she sent it back but I checked all the photos and the original packaging (which she'd used to return it) and it was clear it had not been damaged either when I sent it or in transit. In fact it looked as though it had been tried on and badly torn. I mean really badly.

Just every now and then you get someone who needs to go on your blocked list. :(

Anyway, enough of that - hope you have a lovely relaxing evening and a good weekend!

Sorry you had a bad experience on Ebay there are some nasty people out there. I had a buyer who said the parcel arrived damaged, I had double wrapped it in cardboard and bubble wrap and paid a courier it wasn't signed for damaged. I asked for a part of the thing to be set back as it would have cosy over £10 to return it but the buyer refused, 2 weeks later the silly bint put it on ebay on the same account. Needless to say ebay upheld my payment on that occasion so watch for them on your buyer's account !

Have a good long weekend and enjoy the curry...

Have arrived at college nice and early and set up camp for me and B to work for the day, just waiting for him to arrive and then we can attack this exam!

Feeling quite rough, would say its 40% hangover and 60% general grogginess, i didnt feel great yesterday so really hope Im not coming down with anything!

It seems v quiet here today, just 4 lads so far to my right who must be doing their exams next week too, two of them are quite easy on the eye hehe... hey college has to have some benefits, right!

The place where I ride the horses is holding another ball this year, this is the one I organised last year but said I didnt have the time (or patience) this year! I was quite pleased when the email came round that they're doing after dinner tickets too at £40 (dinner tickets £85) and me and 2 of my riding friends decided to do the cheaper option and have drinks at mine first then head over together!

Now, one has decided to put a dinner table together with one of the boys and wants me to be on it, I told her straight away I couldn't afford it, but the invite still came through yesterday.

I can justify the after dinner ticket as I already have a dress to wear and drinks are included in the ticket for the night, so I'd only have to pay for a cab home which I would share my my other friend.

So going to log on now and decline the dinner ticket and I'll buy the after dinner ticket nearer the time. It's in October and thats my only budgeted spending for the month so far...

Need to turn down a night out next weekend too, what started off as a few post exam drinks with my work friends is turning into a full blown night out in Essex with people looking at hotels! That is most definitley NOT in the budget!

Maybe I'll look how much train tickets are to go home and I can visit my Granny again, she's still in hospital having had her hip operated on but willbe in there a while as she needs to build up to walking further than the loo on it

Good luck, for this week - it sounds like you are all doing very well !!.

I am sure your gran will be fine (my brother had one, and it took a while to get back together but he is on a new lease of life). also she will understand if you can't come down mid exams - which will also give you time to book a cheaper advance fare !!
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

    Thanks! I hope so!

That recipe sounds lush bar the liver, I'm sure it does taste nice but for some reason because its liver it makes me feel a bit quesy!

Liver is yum :D ...and good for you and cheap. It's what my Ma lived on back in the day when she first left home :)

Yeah I'm like that too about ebay. I mean not least some kitchen stuff of mine which has like the odd carpet beetle in it :(.. would rather give to a charity shop personally even though it's worth about £50 ...or some nice young Ma at church who might need it :T...

Anyhow catch up laters. Don't forget x factor tonight LG and C has ice cream on offer and like Mr S has crisps on offer :D

    Thanks Mark!

That's good to hear, yes Mum text and said she was in better spirits today. Just taken your advice and booked tickets for next weekend after my exam £40 for both (full price is £60 each on the day!) and Mum usually gives me some towards them :)
