Hi all,
So, the weekend. What happened?
Friday night, watched the opening ceremony in my local - LOVED IT! The rehersal I went to only showed you up to the athletes (HOW LONG did that take?!) and they missed out the bits with the Queen and Mr Bean so it was brilliant to watch that! I wasn't drinking so didn't spend any money and I bumped into my friend who owed me £26 and he gave me £30 cash SCORE!
Went to college on Saturday and bought breakfast and lunch out but spent less than a tenner so that within budget. Saturday night my FM had a friend stay over and we just stayed in and watched TV and drank wine!
Sunday - I had arranged to have my friend over to study with me (and had told the FM's this in advance) but between the three of them the volume was extraordinary and there was pointed talk of "what time does F1 start? Oh we cant miss that" Hint taken. It's hard in a shared house as the living room is everyones area but its the only space big enough for me to study and I dont expect silence but I need quiet but I can't expect it. So me and my friend took our books and went to my college instead but that meant buying lunch out again as I hadn't thought I needed to make anything £5.
At work today, I just took my cheque to the bank to get cashed and popped to Next on the way back as I still have a £10 voucher there for my birthday, I bought a paif of black patent court shoes for £24 so I spent £14 of my own money which will come out of my Granny's cheque. My other black shoes were battered so they needed replacing and I'll wear them lots.
My Granny went into hospital yesterday with pain in her hip, then another pain appeared in her stomach area, the ambulance took hours to arrive apparantley. Anyway she is in there now and they're doing x rays and tests to try and find out whats wrong. So I bought her a get well card on my way back from the bank.
Going to stay after work to study with my friend, tomorrow I'm at college again so will buy some rolls tonight to take with me, i have tuna and cheese at home and will try and eat breakfast before I goSantander 0% £1,529.94

Social worker approved it. Hope the doc does today
....and that I get to keep my consultant
Had to wait till 5.30pm for RM to deliver packing boxes off amazon...too much hassle getting them from the supermarket and I need LOADS!!! But only £14 or something and I've gone for the prime trial whilst I'm moving (though half the things I've ordered aren't covered by it? Argh!!! Why did I bother????)
So yeah I've ordered the ambassador boxes off amazon. I don't think they're really labelled as moving boxes but the moving boxes weren't that good a review and I'm not paying £35 for just 10 off A* (I think I got 35 for less than 30 off A...here's hoping it's enoughSome double walled. Some single)
Alas the dismantling of the high sleeper (planned to get rid of it before move. Had it about 8 years) didn't go so well. Lost hex key when dropped it on penultimate screw so had to bash with a hammer and bin the whole thing. Was supposed to go on freecycle.
So here's hoping any furniture I want for the new place (think spare bed min. I have the mattress) I can get from a local charity for free...
Just have to worry about moving costs. Think I will put normal payment on OD on Tuesday (next tuesday) so that makes me officially debt free pending moving costs...No tithe as I need it for moving.
Anyhow tis all my news. I have a concert next Tuesday to celebrate getting debt free so that should be good

Sorry not be around much - I have had an attack of the glums.
@miggy - dad has recovered from his stunts and he has been told that under no uncertain terms is he to do anything so daft again..why do men have to be so stupid? Talking of my parents they turned up last Saturday and I was a bit surprised because I wasnt really expecting them but mum said that they were there to sort out my old tv - we carefully dragged the stand into the middle of the room (dad sat on the sofa) and then we manhandled the new stand into place - at around 3pm a new telly arrived as a present from them both, the old one got taken away:j Now I have a flat screen tv that has freeview built in and I can either watch it on scart and have cable tv) or on tv and have freeview. Dad has also given me a new scart cable for my DVD player as the old one was deemed unfit for purpose by the television chaps, we had to buy a scart splitter from them for a tenner but it was money well spent so now I can watch DVDs on a full size screen and I can keep my portable DVD for bedtimes and camping.
I have been busy in the garden and sorting stuff out - I have crocked my knees too so now I have an appointment with a new GP on Monday (I crocked my knees when I moved and never bothered doing anything about it but sitting down or even worse kneeling is quite painful and I have to cling to items of solid furniture to get myself upright.
Must admit that I loved Mr Bean during the opening ceremony. Did anyone see the diplomatic incident that was caused during the march past of the teams? One of the volunteers who had been dancing joined in with the Indian team and the poor love stood out like a sore thumb in her red t-shirt and black trousers but she was there waving to the crowds.
I feel sorry for the chaps and chapesses who have to endure the crowds in London - it can't be easy for you all.0 -

Hi ErmeSorry to hear it hasn't gone to plan with the move. I saw your earlier post about finding a removals guy/man with a van.
Might not be much use at the moment, but if you're in a position to move again and need someone reliable (and not megabucks!) I really recommend using this site called AnyVan[dot]com.
I'm moving in with my OH next Tuesday for the first time after 2 1/2 years together (so excited!) and have needed to arrange the same thing, as well as 2 other journeys to pick up furniture from different locations in the UK.
They're independant delivery businesses/people, and so can charge much more agreeable rates! They bid for your trip, and you choose who you want. So far, between the 3 trips (2 pickups/deliveries and a dual address housemove) we've saved around £300 from advertised companies quotes! :T (London prices... argh!)
Sorry if it sounds like a spam, totally not meant to. Just nice to not get ripped off and be able to save the cash for better things! Maybe it will help someone else on these boards at some point too.0 -
Don't worry doodles....stomach playing up so sitting here listening to the radio curled up in bed. Sure it will come in handy for someone.
On my diary (I think) is a link to a good (I think) kettle that scored very high on which. :T So that might help someone. Wasn't the cheapest (not when A* do stainless ones for £10) but no where near the most expensive.
So I just looked at the spreadsheet and I think I have like £10 spare on Tuesday for two weeks. If I've gotten my calculations right. Anyone know how long paypal keep things on temporary hold (refunds) for?

WELL DONE Surfbabe! Thats brilliant, you must be really pleased.
Just logging on quickly between meetings, life v busy this week, been working late then studying on top and not finding time for much else, I'll be posting when I can but I have a feeling this exam is going to be like last and I'll not find much time to post
Im keeping in with budget-ish, spending money on things I wouldnt normally but right now as long as I dont overspend I dont care!
Will try and find time to catch up properly over the weekend between college
