  • Hi LG

Sounds like things are going great. Fingers crossed on the bonus.

I'm just a bit confused about this payment a day thing. Do you actually send the payment to the card on-line or do you put the money aside to pay as an instalment. If it is the on-line payment do companies not mind you paying like this? I don't suppose they would if they are getting money anyway. I feel a bit thick asking this :o

Have a lovely weekend and hope it was only the one drink and you didn't succomb to peer pressure :rotfl::rotfl: You might need a clear head for the horse riding in the morning.

    Take care.

    Morning guys,

I have a confession to make

I gave in to peer pressure. :o:mad::o

We went to the bar at the bottom of our building after work, wine was bought and drank, no food was consumed.... got a wee bit merry, jumped straight on the band wagon at the suggestion of moving on to somewhere livlier, luckily the two collegues I was with both live really close so we all shared a taxi back together, but then we saw the local dancing bar was still open, what a great idea to go and dance the night away... I met a boy, D, had a cheeky kiss :D, swapped numbers and staggered home at 3:30am, alarm went off at 5:30 and thankfully my horse was as good as gold or we could have had problems! Spent the rest of the day in bed feeling sorry for myself, went and bought a pizza at 8pm to finally eat something and watched a film with my FM and his gf - am pretty sure they were after the flat to themselves but no chance! HA

Anyway the bad side to all of this is the cost.... £60 in all... gutted. It was a brilliant night but that is all of my allowance gone for now till next Wednesday. ARGH :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Moral of the story..... drunk LG is not MSE LG.

Im going to see Jimmy Carr tonight with my friend and I can't cancel this late so will have to withdraw next weeks budget and manage on that for the next 2 weeks. At least I'll have no choice but to rack up NSD's....

I got an email from the national lottery this morning and I won a tenner on that last night... couldn't have had better time but would have loved it to be £100!!!

My friend still owes me £26 so he will be getting a text reminding him of that!

I'm going to spend this morning getting some bits and bobs on ebay so hopefully conteract the damage I did!

D text me last night and asked if I wanted to meet him for a drink. Told him I was still in recovery and asked if we could do it another night... he replied "yes, not a one time only offer but it does have an expiry date :p I'll leave it to you to let me know" I think I'm going to see if he is free today, then we could do something cheap like go to a park and have a walk rather than meet for a drink one night which gets expensive! Now, I did meet him late on in the night so it's all a bit hazy but I do remember his name (phew!) and that he works on a hedge fund...thats about it! :o:rotfl::o

Right, time to get e-baying and undo the damage I did.

I have just put a batch of books and a pair of shoes on e-bay. Lesson learnt, actions do have consequences!

I did put my study text books on for the exams I sat, I know I dont get my results till Thursday but I'll get new ones if I have to re-sit any so no point in them hanging around and a lot of students around reults week (THIS THURSDAY ARGH!!!!) do panic buy books in advance. So I put a buy it now choice on too in the hope I can get some £££ quickly!!!

Hello LG - everyone needs a night out every now and again. And £60 is a lot, but it could have been way worse considering all the stuff you got to do.

I am speaking from experience here my local school held a concert in its field sponsored by local brewery with OH and DD2 and DS2 we spent £50 on beer and food and games and pretended it was Glastonbury (muddy)

I found the thread linked below very interesting (and so did lots of people judging by comments) - basically about dividing up £8K into 100 lots of £80 and finding a different way of earning each of the 1%'s

(Even if you don't like it it will be a very MSE way to spend an hour :money:)

I have managed to make up over half of Friday nights spends!!! :j

I remembered that the last time I counted out my loose change pot I only did 50p upwards

    I've just counted out £37 in 5p-20p :j:j:j

There is a bunch of copper too but can't bring myself to do that! lol that can go into a change counter at some point!

So I'm quite pleased with that, Im going to keep it in little bags and take a few quid to work each day I need to buy food and pay for it on the self service thing and tip in the change! Dah daahhhhh

By taking a few quid a day I'll limit my spending to that too so hopefully it'll last me :A

Found some more books to list on ebay, one of which is brand new and in demand so hoping that goes for a good amount.

Completed a few surveys on one poll.

Thanks for the link to that thread Mark, it's been interesting reading, have signed up to a few of the sites and am going to look into if there is a demand for ad hoc accountancy tuition up to the level I am currently qualified

If D is a hedge fund guy - I suggest he might not be short of a penny or two, and city types like partying (stereotype I know, but true in my experience) - so could be expensive keeping up unless you don't mind him flashing his cash (but even then it could be expensive)

Absolutley true.. I work in the city and experience this a lot, keeping up with colleagues is impossible and we're just typical back office finance worker not even the trader/banker/fund types! Until the last couple of weeks I'd avoided it completely using the excuse of needing to study... thank fully I'll have this excuse back in a few weeks, in the meantime its "sorry, I'm skint!"

I guess if I meet D again, I'll have to judge the situ. If I meet anyone who I like and am struggling to keep up with financially at some point I'll have to explain my situation

    Hi LG,

£60 is definitely not as bad as pre-MSE days you've mentioned. You've also been out and had too much to drink before but stayed quite well in budget, so maybe all the hard grafting and studying you've done resulted in a well deserved controlled blow out? How many fantastic nights do you get like that each month? You've also been really productive in fixing things, so I think you should give yourself this break and think back on it with great thoughts with no tainting. I honestly feel you deserve that.

I hope all goes well with D. I've met a few guys who have had lots of money (ooh, get me!) and the genuine ones who like you are willing to have quieter spend days. They can get their spendy days with lots of other peers pressuring them out on a heavy one. You'll be a refreshing change when you get to have a lovely time without hitting the credit card.

Enjoy your weekend and I hope all goes ok. x
