If you're going to blow the budget, you might as well have a brilliant night out of it!
And you picked yourself up and got back on the straight and narrow very effectively too.
I like Muffy's idea of a well deserved controlled blow out.Maybe if we scheduled one of those after each period of sustained effort we would all be a bit less stressed.

£60 is definitely not as bad as pre-MSE days you've mentioned. You've also been out and had too much to drink before but stayed quite well in budget, so maybe all the hard grafting and studying you've done resulted in a well deserved controlled blow out? How many fantastic nights do you get like that each month? You've also been really productive in fixing things, so I think you should give yourself this break and think back on it with great thoughts with no tainting. I honestly feel you deserve that.
I hope all goes well with D. I've met a few guys who have had lots of money (ooh, get me!) and the genuine ones who like you are willing to have quieter spend days. They can get their spendy days with lots of other peers pressuring them out on a heavy one. You'll be a refreshing change when you get to have a lovely time without hitting the credit card.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope all goes ok. x
Hi
Thank you I will do that, I haven’t had many nights like that at all since I started MSE life last September (I can’t believe its coming up to a year!!!) and if I sell my items on ebay it might not make a difference to the budget anyway!
We went to the local for a couple of hours before I went to go and meet my friend. He’s really nice, my memory of him was hazy at best but when I saw him I was … pleased…. We got on really well once the ice had been broken and he’s so down to earth and not the stereotypical city type at all. He even mentioned he rents the flat he does as because it’s above a bar they get a nice discount for the noise disturbance so I don’t think he’s too flippant with money which was nice to know! He said he wants to see me again so one of us will call the other this week to arrange
Hope you had a nice weekend too? x

Haha true – I definitely did that! HAHA At least I didn’t blow it on a rubbish nightI’d regret that so much more!!!
Thanks J hopefully the items will sell well, I’d like to have my budget back to make the month easier!
Yeah I agree actually, once its out your system then you’re not bothered about repeating it!

So, e-bay so far is… 12 items listed and 2 watchers so far with no bids….
Haven’t spent anything yet today so hoping for NSD, and I transferred another £1 to the c card for PAD….
Less than 3 days until results…. Gulp.
There is a work night out on Wednesday which I am going to boycott, I am supposed to be going to a polo game this weekend with my friend. She’s driving and we’re staying over as guests of her friends in the officers mess (its an army game) so I’ll need to contribute to petrol and I need to check with her if I need to pay for anything else. I’m quite happy not to drink to save money and I am looking forward to it but I’d quite like her to change her mind about going, I can’t cancel as if I don’t go she won’t be able to go by herself and she’d be furious. At least this is the last thing this month I have planned but I wish I’d thought ahead!
I think this month I’ve gone wrong as I organised to do the polo and the show last night but then also had a really big night out on top and the budget doesn’t allow for that much! Need to get back into the habit of turning these things down again like I did before. Next year I can look forward to doing more once I’m debt free but for now I need to work towards getting there!
Next month will be easier as I’ll be back studying and so will have another reason not to spend money.Santander 0% £1,529.94

The next lot of studying will give you an excuse to say no!
(Mind you, that way people can find ways round it. Perhaps better just to say 'Sorry, I can't. You have a good time though!')Miggy

As well as I feel I've adopted the money saving and money management, I also struggle with saying no to going out with people. I feel like I'm rejecting them rather than the expense (and get the impression they feel the same).
I'm glad your date went well and you were pleased when you saw him again. Him appearing to be money savvy is great too. I mentioned a money saving tactic to A on Saturday and he looked at me like I'd grown another head!0 -

It took ages for the penny to drop (:D) with DH but DS's g/f is very savvy... we are quite happy chatting about bargains!
Perhaps you should try the motivator tool on him - though I can't find it now I want it, sorry.Miggy

Hi LondonGirl,
Just spent the last few days reading your diary. I found it inspirational, entertaining and I am full of admiration for the way you are determined to be debt free and change your habits.
DD2 directed me to this website last week when I found out I was losing my job in a couple of weeks time. I have certainly picked up some very useful tips. Like everyone else I have my fingers crossed re. exam results. Good Luck.1% at a time No 66 £4000 5/1000 -

Yes I feel like that too, some friends have really fallen off the radar since I've been MSE, their loss!thanks! Hahaha typical! I'm actually seeing him again tomorrow night, haven't made plans yet but need to steer it towards not spending money.
The problem is, I'd normally invite someone over to go for the cheaper option and cook but its definitley too soon to suggest that at the moment!Santander 0% £1,529.94
