Congrats LG! Nearly a third of the way, so so impressive. And I doubt you'd get so much support if this diary weren't a great read and you such a naturally likeable person.

Bit of a nightmare day today at work - I'm sure my boss thinks I have a crystal ball sometimes! As soon as I think I'm getting to the end of this endless task of sorting out the old stuff something else comes up! Ah well

I had to spend £7.40 yesterday on a prescription for an earspray - during the flight home from Milan my ears didn't just pop, they were so painful and yesterday they were still bad and had fuzzy hearing so went to the doc and she said they were really inflamed and possibly infected so I have a spray which seems to have helped already.

I also ended up buying a salad for tea on the way home, getting those stressed and anxious feelings back, as thought everything feels like too much pressure and I just needed to take the easy option for dinner. I spoke to my friend about it and she suggested rescue remedy helps so I'm going to buy some tomorrow - its expensive at a tenner but if it does help then it'll be worth it. Have any of you used it before? I need to think of how to manage this for the next 8 weeks until exams are over.

God I sound like a broken record at the moment don't I? I've given up work for the night and finally putting my feet up for The Apprentice.

    Hello LG,

I've used rescue remedy before. It helped me through my holistic exams as I was in such a state. I found it useful, but have only used it on certain days. Have a look online to see if it's any cheaper. Ebay are pretty good on things like that and the right seller will post quickly too.

But, to be fair to you, you've had such a manic week being out of the country and catching up on things at work which must also be approaching year end for you, so I think you sound like you're doing really well. You just need a little time to regroup to get your organisation back with something like rescue remedy to help keep your mood levels even or at least the anxiety at bay.

Your sig looks fantastic! Wooh to you! x

    Hello LondonGirl!

I have been keeping track of your progress from my phone but haven't been able to post until now.

I read your post from last week about how down you were feeling and I really felt for you. It sounded like you were in a bit of a rut but catching up on your update post above, you sound like you are in a completely different mindset. Sometimes things just seem to get the better of us but I am glad that you have made a swift recovery and are back to your debt busting self. Sometimes you just need to take some time out, reorganise and get everything under control and then face the challenege again, refreshed and ready to go. Don't beat yourself up about a tiny slip up (whether it be spending on food while you are at college or treating yourself occasionally). You have proved the point that the tiny slip ups really don't have a detrimental effect on the long term goal. Learn what you can from the past and make the best of the future.

Also, your comments about being in London and the way your life is at the moment really struck a chord with me. You could say I am the complete opposite of you (and at least 5 years older)! When I graduated, I stayed at home (in the Midlands), living with my parents while trying to make the most of my career in a fairly rural area with limited oportunites for progression, all with the aim of getting some money behind me so I could buy my own house, all whilst keeping my horse (as my only real frivolity). I have certainly made compromises and defintely don't want to be living with my parents any longer. When I look back now and see friends who live and work in London, have got high powered jobs and have a great social life, I do get envious and sometimes wonder if I have done the right thing. I love my life but part of me knows that I am capable of more. I guess what I am trying to say is that we make choices that we think are best for us at the time. No choice will give you all the benefits without the negatives. I could not have lived and worked in London, had a horse and saved for a house deposit. But I get to visit freinds in London and sample that sort of life while maintained what really is important to me. You are not restricted to staying in London, but perhaps now is the time to build for the future, put that extra work in to blitz your exams and debt and know that in 2 or 3 years you will be in a great position for the next stage of your life. I know that you know all this already, but sometimes it helps to hear it from the other side. And most of all, don't give up!

Right my preaching is done! (Hope that doesn't sound partronising but I see so much of it in myself!)

Looking at your latest post, those figures really do look amazing. You have shifted some substantial debt and should be very proud of yourself.

The Milan trip sounds great. Well done on not being tempted by the shops! Will there be more opportunities for that sort of work?

I hope you are getting plenty of riding in at the moment. The weather really is glorious. I am hoping it holds for the weekend as I need to give my neddy a bath and try to get the worst of his coat out from where he wasn't clipped!

I was in London a couple of days ago and a freind and I walked round The Serpentine in Hyde Park. I saw the tracks and maneges for the horses and some people riding and thought of you. It must be quite amazing to ride there early in the morning when London is fairly quiet. I have promised myself that next time I am down there I will have a ride out round Hyde Park. I have found a stables at Bathurst Mews (I think) which hires horses out for rides so I am definately going to do it.

For your college days when you want to try to avoid buying food, is there anything you could make in bulk in advance so all you have to do on those days is pull it out of the freezer? I am no great cook but I am sure you could make it easier for yourself.

Anyway, this post has turned out to be quite a long one so I will be off now but hopefully get to pop back in again soon.

    Take care,

Hey! I've literally just finished reading your diary (not a stalker, and I *do* have a life, I promise!)

You seem to be doing AMAZINGLY well at reducing your debt! Like you, I'm loath to sacrifice a social life and become a hermit in order to save money!

Re: your comment not too long ago about thinking about leaving London - I used to live in London, and whilst I love the place, I love my Northern Abode even more :) my rent for a 2 bed flat is half what my London friends pay for a room. Also, I found that in London, I tended to stick within a certain area for going out etc, so really, in moving to a smaller city, you're not reducing your potential watering holes, just 'condensing' them :)

Good luck, and may the only Fool in your life come Sunday be custard-based :)

    Hey Muffin,

I am loving Rescue Remedy, whenever I've felt a bit anxious or stressed a couple of squirts later and I feel ready to deal with it.

Thanks, yes year end is well underway and it has helped to keep me on track this weekend

    Hi!

    Thanks for your awesome post!

Feeling a like I do have a much better handle on things today, I got up to date with work on Friday, keeping on top of college work and also bought some things to make salads with to take to my evening classes this week

You're right we are so similar, when I left the midlands I left behind a horse I loaned and had hoped to buy one day knowing I'd probably not ride much in London, I was just so lucky to land my riding gig but I do still dream of having my own horse one day. I think that by visiting your friends who live in London you probably experience the best of it anyway, the morning crush on the tube is stressful, everyone is miserable and it STINKS! The social life is expensive to maintain and like you said above I definitely only go out locally so its not like I'm out partying at the newest clubs all the time. I do love my job and working in the city but when i compare my life down here to my life back home my life back home was so much less stressful, London can also be very lonely. I agree with exactly what you said, I'm going to make the most of the next few years then re-think. I'd love to have my own horse and the quality of life that I could get from living back in the country :) There's ups and downs to both but hey, there's train and they aint going anywhere!

We need to go to Paris office at some point too as the finance manager was made redundant last week and we will need to provide support to their accountants but I think that will clash with college and S may have to go alone. Maybe next time!!

I did have a couple of rides on Friday and Saturday which were both gorgeous! You're right, the park is beautiful that time in the morning, we use those sand tracks you saw to exercise the army horses. We know the Bathurst Mews stables, we often pass the girls out riding, they seem very pleasant and their horses are much better behaved than ours!

Im going to make a pasta salad tonight, I think i can make enough for two tonight and it will last for Mon and Weds!

Did you give your neddy his bath? I hope you got out riding today its been gorgeous!

    Hi!!

Thanks so much for reading, it must have taken you ages! But dont worry I dont think you're a stalker I read some huge diaries when I first came on here!

Thanks! It's not easy but I think it would drive me more mad to stay in than to try and reduce the overall going out

So true about the house prices, I was browsing on right move the other day and compared what I could get in Derby for the same money as NW London. It was a one bed studio vs a 3 bed house!!! Bonkers! Dont imagine ever being able to afford to buy down here!

    Many thanks
    Good luck too
