Thanks Miggy, I felt like a right miserable cow! lol I am pleased for her though! I was thinking that this am actually, when I'm at 100% if I carry on my budget as it is, it'll only take a couple of months to save up to go away, so summer 2013 maybe just maybe .....! :D

No way are you a miserable cow! :rotfl:Even at a distance I'm dreaming of an all-inclusive week in Egypt!

On the plus side, it will mean you have the place to yourself for a week so maybe you could have that to look forward to (not that you don't get on, just that it's nice to have it all to yourself, IYSWIM).

  • Now I feel crap for announcing my windfall on your diary yesterday! Sorry - I was just so excited. A bit insensitive in hindsight. Yeah lucky her but I can see how its reminded you that holidays aren't on your cards at the moment. You just have to make do with what you can. When I was at the height of my debt, I used my leave to discover London. I went to loads of free museums and galleries and stuff. Plus I laid in... A LOT. You can still get excited by staycations I believe.

Wow TJ you are so lucky to be getting an ipad :)

I got a Blackberry Playbook on Monday and love it. My inner geek has been well & truly released lol. In fact spent the best part of the last two days programming it :D.

  • Got an email from Quidco saying they've paid me, so I reckon that should appear in my bank tomorrow as on my account the payment is dated 31.01.2012

Hope it does as I want to take it to drinks with me tomorrow - after making an overpayment of course!!!

  • Hey LondonGirl!

Just catching up on your diary again. I often read it on my phone but I can't reply on there so only really get the chance to drop you a note when I am at work.

I can see why you would feel a little sour about your flat mate's winnings - I would love a week in Eygpt too! However, like turbojet says, there is so much to explore in London and I assume you already have free travel with your Oyster Card. And maybe there are other options too if you are willing to be creative and maybe a little adventurous - like helping with charity work for an equestrian organisation (eg www.thebrooke.org) or something. I have no idea whether you would have to pay anything but worth a look if you want a break from daily life.

And like you said, you are doing so well with the debt busting that once cleared you will be able to use your new skills to save up for a holiday in no time.

There are some interesting bits of London e.g. South Bank (Namco Station where you can go on the dodgems for 50p), Nat Gallery, Nat Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern, The Tate in Millbank, the V&A, Natural History Museum. Buckingham Palace, Palace of Westminster, Horseguards. You can visit the windmill in Brixton (yes there is a windmill there). You might be able to pick up cheap theatre tickets at the large booth on Leicester Square close to the Odeon cinema where the celebs hang out when there is a red carpet do. Mind you the best road in London is the A40 which is the road out:rotfl::rotfl:

Even though I am poorer than a church mouse it doesnt stop me thinking about weekends or holidays - when I am on a more even keel I plan to go sailing on the Amelie Rose which is a wooden yacht (see The Hungry Sailors on itv) and spend a few weekends camping in Dorset - if I time it just right I might be able to go to Studland Stables and go for a hack along the beach.
