Can this not be solved by paying cash and not use your clubcard when you intend to go for a big DTD??0
-
or going at different times of the day to different branches??
I would love Tesco to try and take me to court over something like this (but you're right, the fact that someone was challenging a well advertised scheme would be a marketing own goal so they wont).
As a shareholder, could you request the security team re-focus on standard shoplifters, distraction artists at the til and people using counterfeit money and coupons first?
This feels like one of those "all you can eat buffets" where you can not actually eat all you can. At the end of the day, Tesco's put an offer as they were so confident in their ability to maintain accurate SEL's. If we are catching them out, then the answer is to address this with their IT department, not the consumer0 -

I have an unregistered paper clubcard for such occassions! :rotfl:0 -
Been to Pr@sc@t Extra this morning. Duracell glitch not working, only taking cheapest one off.
Did get some normal cheese and onion Pringles, 49p and bogof. Normal white sel. Loads on shelf. They also had lots of the 49p chilli, rib and cream cheese ones too. These were on the aisle end near the normal Pringles display.
Big basket of the 75p laundry sets on the main aisle near milk.0 -

precisely!
In fact, i'm not really bothered about CC points.
They cost so much to administer, staff to service the website and deal with queries, staff to negotiate deals with pizza express/chessington zoo/lego land *delete as appropriate*/marketing/manufacturing the cards/keytags etc etc. Double points this week/big exchange next week blah blah.
I would much prefer they scrapped the whole thing and just make their goods cheaper?0 -
Sorry for not replying sooner to this post but with the experience of Looby 123 I thought it may be worth refreshing it in the hope that it warns those who regularly DTD of the possible consequences, whether deserved or not and whether active or not.(not being judgemental just a heads up;))
By the way, I was assuming from your join date that you would not have experienced R&R as that ended in Feb 2007? Or are you someone else in disguise:rotfl:
I'm hopefully not trying to state the obvious to savvy shoppers but using a clubcard at Tesco (or any other reward card elsewhere) gives a lot of info i.e. who you are, where you live, where you shop, when you shop, what products you buy regularly etc. Also it can show, if they choose to interrogate the system, if you have had a DTD and then go to another store and do the same thing. This coupled with CCTV and instore scanner logs could be used to pinpoint you. I know this may seem like a bit of Big Brother but it is possible. I think Tesco could gather sufficient evidence to prosecute someone for this but probably turn a half-blind eye because of the adverse publicity it would generate.
Banning people from a local store was the usual recourse in the days of R&R but some of those who used a clubcard were allegedly banned for from all stores and had their points and clubcard deleted.
I would hope that most of you would know this as part of the culture but there may be newbies that, in their enthusiasm, may not realise this.
Prosecute??? For what??? No crime has been committed here in any way shape or form.
Yes Tesco can ban us from stores (it is said that they can't ban shareholders but I've yet to hear of this being tested or proved one way or another) and yes they could remove your clubcard etc, but once again its THEY who would be on sticky ground here if your points had been legitimately earned through your shopping.
Lets be clear about this, provided you pay the price asked for or abide by tescos own terms and conditions then you commit no offence, period!0 -

As long as you use a non tesco credit card/debit card and not a clubcard or clubcard credit card you should be ok. Cash of course is the least traceable way to pay but can raise suspicions on a large transaction.Awaiting a new sig0
