    Xmas Saver!
A while ago (on the closed thread) I posted about Tesco cooking bacon being a good deal and got this reply from Squigs:

"I have been using this bacon for quite a while now.
Some of the packs have some very thick slices in which are great done in the oven as bacon chops, but are best soaked in cold water for a while to get rid of some of the saltiness.
Down side is, these packs were only 75p a week ago and then jumped in price to £1.:("

Squigs will be pleased to know that as part of the Big Price Drop, this bacon is now back down to 75p a pack. Cynical about tesco ramping up prices to bring them back down....Me?

I regularly used to spend up to £150 on a sunday on my weeks shopping and now I'm sitting looking at my £5 off £40 coupon thinking I'll never spend that much:eek:Last weeks proper shopping bill was £24 and that was with bumping it up with OH lynx deodarants, I'm saving fortunes at the moment:T I have 3 freezers now full up, god that's embarrassing but got an extra one from my MIL when DTD was on and as I'm in T's "sometimes":rotfl::rotfl:I pick up all the whoopsie so have so much food now. The last packs of danepak bacon I picked up were 20p each! and their was rather a lot;) and it should have been £3 a packet:T

When the exDH and I used to go shopping the bill was regularly over £100 and that was before kids. Since I went on maternity leave I got in and out of the shops with DS as quickly as possible. Then I found DTD about a week before it finished.

Since then I have no trouble taking 2 young kids (2 yo and 6 mo) shopping. Yesterday I nearly keeled in shock when the bill hit £100. Thankfully £20 came off with discounts and there were expensive bargains like a Skallywags buggy board and a scooter for DS oh and 3 x 71p irons :D

I have resisted posting pics of my toy stash as I think it may get a few backs up (bargains from Argos, Homebase, Tesco, Sainsburys and especially Mothercare). The boys won't need any toys bought for at least a year or maybe 2 between Xmas and birthdays. I'm fully stocked on toiletries, cleaning products, clothes for the DSs, homeware & crockery bar a toaster & deep fat fryer, vino *hic*, soup, cereal, custard etc etc. Oh and my freezer is bunged from whoopsies in M&S (I have a delicate tummy and Ts own food doesn't generally agree with me). I actually have trouble buying anything beyond milk & bread in Ts.

God bless MSE and all those who post in it :T I just need to wrap all the Xmas pressies. If you don't hear from me for a while I could well be lying under the piles of RTC wrapping paper from last Xmas :D
  • morning everyone! :)

such a lovely day and I HAVE TO go to Tesco :( I really really don't want to but need some bits for the party tonight...

and I am picking up my bike today :D that's a bit more exciting...

Today I could do with a glitch on juices, crisps, breadsticks, dips, prunes and bacon... I hope our friend will keep that in mind... ;) Of course I want to be paid to take those away! A few pennies off won't do the trick!

Oh btw, anyone tried this little things for parties(or even for just watching TV):
prunes wrapped in ca.1/4 slice of bacon each on a coctail stick(can be 2 or 3 on one) and in the oven for 10-15 mins :D they are soo yummy! and perfect for a quick party snack... :D

just been tesco sth w1g5t0n can confirm that baileys mint is going through till at £6.99 but sel says £10.49.
no sloar dinner services very nice SA scanned a lot of denby ones for me as they werent priced she said in a couple of weeks they are being reduced but there about £60 at the mo and only coming down by about a tenner.
no muffin mix there BUT the triple phones STILL have the 1/2 price yellow SEL that looked out of date coudnt see clearly as the date bit was right under the thick bit of plastic, didnt scan one as dont need a triple phone but if anyone else is in the area might be worth checking.
got a 1/2 price toothbrush, they still have loads of those and also got a 7" digital pohto frame for £9.97 only a teknika one but will serve its purpose as DS wanted one for christmas
    SPC~12 ot 124

In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind

I DO cook a lot with prunes! :p

Not very keen on them on their own but they are a fab for cooking... :T

In couple of weeks when it's cold and rainy outside I'll post a fab recipe for those with a slow cooker(a biggish saucepan or stockpot will do too) ;) A very yummy Eastern European dish perfect for winter! watch this space!

Would that be regular 'regular' or regular at T? Didn't know if there was a glitch on them as regularly happens!

I might look for some free dtd wine today ;)

And I promised myself I won't touch vodka tonight, it ALWAYS ends in a disaster for me! :o On the last occasion I returned home at 1pm! the next day because I got lost and couldn't find my way back home! And every next time is always much worse then the last so I don't want to know what the next one might be... :o

Hm... reading back I might just drink Schoeler tonight then... :o
