If you search for property that they have for sale, with 60 properties per page, there's 5 pages - so that's 300 properties or less - for the whole of the UK.

Does that strike you as a lot? Does it give you the impression they're doing a lot of sales business (their letting numbers seem to be higher)?

I some ways it is not that important how many properties they have. As long as they list on Rightmove and others, who cares?

Someone selling in an area where Rightmove doesn't dominate, and doesn't have even a third of the available properties in the area?
  • They only had 368 props on RM when I checked but they do all the other portals too,
as a prospective buyer I only use RM as the others have no different props, so I think Im happy to get my house on RM to sell by the cheapest option

our local paper also advertises properties. You may find putting an advert locally helps to get someone who doesn't use the computer. Megan

This is true but you can use a cheapie online agent to test the water before spending more money. If you have to, you can place ads or employ a high street agent later. A very high percentage of people use online searches when looking for property.

Of course, I suspect most people use rightmove. It never hurts to explore all options. We sold our own and got a good response from local press for about £40. M x
