  • Good news, yesterday (5th July) I received my payment notification from e-On for the reading first made on the 12th April, hopefully the cash will follow soon

Was it just coincidence that I copied the CEO of E-On into the email I sent last week

In case you need it his email address is tony.cocker@eon-uk.com
  • As a supplier most companies would be on to the user for payment and or demanding late payment charges. This is no different with us being suppliers to EON. I've waited almost 3 months for this last FIT payment and they say I should have it soon (moving me to the new system) and 15 days later.

OK, they are moving us to a new system - not our problem, so we shouldn't be penalised for their ineptitude. They should manage it transparently and nor inconveinience their suppliers.

They would be quick enough to jump on us for late bill payment.

2nd payment now received from British Gas in under 30 days. New statement format is now very readable and explains the different rates from 31 March.

I'd argue there's still room for improvement, as the export table shows readings of zero. It would be better if each line in the 2nd table didn't list the readings of zero and instead read:

    Export deemed at 50% of generation for period 21/02/12-31/03/12: 193kWh 3.1p/kWh £5.97
    etc.

Why should they mention the deeming? Because in future exact export metering will be possible and this assumption will no longer be used.

They also don't explicitly state whether the 31st March readings are estimated or provided by the customer (not everyone will remember to take a reading on the day).

Precisely. If the new system were for collection of direct debits, there would be no possibility of them allowing transitional problems to delay collections. If it did happen, there would be people being fired all over the place. I'll bet no-one is the slightest bit concerned about this.

Update: as of five minutes ago (4th July 2012), "we're up to the 27th February". Since I applied on the 23rd, I should get my paperwork "within the next seven days" (which probably allows a fortnight for Eon's further internal post-processing delays plus the post). We'll see. At least the "two to three weeks" was a fair estimate for *their* bit of the process, if not all of it...

Paperwork arrived today (7th July), so pretty much in line with their current forecasts for this bit of the process as well. As a completely unscientific extrapolation, they're getting through applications at the rate of two days per week (20th Feb to 27th Feb in three weeks) and paperwork is arriving a couple of weeks after that.

First meter reading is requested on 23rd August, which is exactly six months after the application date (perhaps a coincidence, but probably not).

Looks like I might just get my first payment before the tinsel is back out of the loft :-)
  • Hi

Anyone else fed up with British Gas?

I phoned them on the 23rd May to give them my solar meter reading. They said I should expect to receive my payment within 2 to 3 weeks (and to be fair, this was also the timescale in respect of my previous payments so I was not unduly concerned)

A month passed, no payment, so another phone call - this time I was told that it can take up to 30 working days to arrive.

30 working days was yesterday and still nothing received so I phoned them again today to be told that they had "discovered" a problem with their system, in that all readings taken on the 23rd May have failed to be processed and they only "discovered" this yesterday (probably because they were inundated with irate claimants!)

So now I have to wait another 14 days for the payment (or it could be longer - who knows?), which of course will be by cheque so that will take a few days to clear once deposited in my bank account because they haven't got the facility to make a direct payment into my bank account.

Anyone else had this? Is it just British Gas or are they all as bad as each other? I was thinking of switching to another payer who can do direct bank payments - how easy/difficult is this to do?

    Hello there

Thought you would be interested to know that they have asked that we give a meter reading on 17th August, which is exactly 6 months after our application date.

My payment went in to my account on the 6th of July; submitted on the 22nd of May, this followed a small amount of dialogue. Think the system is now getting there
