DH may finally be getting on board...maybe...he has suggested that we cut the food bill even further and when I said maybe £50 a wk he said no, make it £30. Now I'm forever the optimist and always up for a challenge, but that would include food and bedding etc. for 2 rabbits, 1 cat and 1 dog, food, toiletries, cleaning stuff, loo rolls, washing powder etc for 2 adults and 2 kids. looks like i'm going to be budgeting, meal planning and bargain hunting to the extreme next month.
(i reckon he can wave goodbye to his inch think slab of rump steak;) and bid a fond farewell to his other woman, stella:rotfl:)
good on you for being an optimist but I am a realist and unless you are relying on what you have in the cupboards £30 for food per week is only £7.50 pp per week. Thats not even including al lthe extras(household bits )or your pets!
The problem with a budget like that is when you find it impossible you could get realy down and give up. Your £50 sounded much more real and even that means forgetting the bit of rump and the other woman! Im working my budget on a basis of £2.50 per day per person as a continuous budget-no altering it from week to week or month to month so if Im using up my stockpile I still have to replace it(as you do).
Good luck in whatever you do-you may well manage it for a couple of weeks but don't feel failure if the cupboards become bare and you are left next month to do a big shop.
OK myself Ive had a nsd today and just £3 yesterday as we gave in to Icelands pizzas! Had to unfortunately buy household bits which when added up so far this month are almost the same as the food budget.
If tomorrow is a nsd my food spend so far this month will be £221.40 which over 3 weeks is £73.80 per week or £10.54 per day for 4-5 people. Vague on this as eldest dd mainly buys her own food so Im going to call the odd 54p her bit! Therefore I am on target for the rest of the month. This is purely food and nothing else.
Tonight I made a veggy bolognese and also used up some beefburgers for the meat eaters. Only cost about 60p per portion-the burgers had been massively reduced. Still fighting for freezer space. Have started Christmas shopping for inlaws so the cost is spread-not a lot to get realy but I do need to make a food hamper for MIL but thats anothr budget!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Don't post much on here, usually spend most of my time just trying to catch up. Well I have got £40 to last till 25th and for a change I think I may actually do it. I have even counted every nappy I have in the house just to make sure I don't need to get any more. Also hoping that the kenwood chef I am getting today will mean I can do more bread making as I love making bread but hat making a mess all over the side when I am needing. At least this way I can keep all the mess in the bowl!!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Just did the shopping for Week 4, DS wanted a Crusty Roll and I thought it was better then sweets... but I went over the budget... by 3p!!!!!

    Pretty much pleased with that!

    Week 1 £24.89/£25
    Week 2 £25.00/£25
    Week 3 £24.99/£25
    Week 4 £25.22/£25

    Next Period of 4 weeks 27th October - 23rd November £200 Please!
I will allow myself to go over £10 in week 2 as we have 18 people over for my DH Confirmation! I think I can keep the 'extra' costs to a minimum.
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

    Weekly shop done yesterday:

Pets@home £9.08 (on dog treats - was only going to buy one pack at £1.50 and one @ £1 but they were on offer so stocked up )
    A!di £20.18
Sains £19.64 (but included some extra treats as DH has next week off work on leave)

So spent £48.90, which leaves me about £11 to last till the end of the month. Should be do-able as can get away with just buying milk and fruit then will do an on-line shop for delivery on 1st Nov

Meal plan done for next week, but need to think about lunches as DH will be here. We've got HM soup (choice of 3 varieties) and I can make some nice crusty bread, I've got eggs and plenty of bacon in the freezer so should be ok.

Better go and make the curried parnsip soup now

    Hi there

Would you ever think of doing the windows yourself, I do and it saves alot of money. Even if you just get him to do the outside ones that would cut it in half. Just a suggestion ... take care

    Just a quick add on

£34.20 Mr A home delivery this week, bringing me up to £211.16/400 :):):).....very happy so far but I have been using my freezer stock this month.

So I would need to go and sort that out either next week or possibly out of the November budget.

AND SHOCK HORROR I ACTUALLY HAD MY FIRST NSD OF THE MONTH YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
