  • One of my jobs for this evening is to do a freezer inventory - it's amazing how quickly they get out of date when you take stuff out and put stuff in, and forget to update it!!

On my list of jobs too .... I did an inventory a few weeks ago & have a big wipeboard on the fridge but still forget to mark stuff off (freezer is in garage) when I come back in.
My plans for doing a meat order this week went out the window. H2B has been too and from hospital as his lung collapsed and I've had a viral infection this week so everythings gone out the window really.

Ohhhhh that's not good. Hope H2B has recovered & is back home & you're feeling better too.

I'm going to have to do a shop .... totally run out of all veg (apart from a bag of frozen peppers & some leeks) - really wanted roast chicken for dinner but it'd just not be the same without roast potatos, sweded & parsnips so it's still sitting in the freezer:o

Welcome back Helen jelly! What a pain with the Internet provider - AOHell owns my provider as well, and it's great when things are going well, but just try to find anything out if connection fails...

    Just updating my spends...
£4.50 in Pets at Home on dog food and £6.50 in Mr T on a few essentials and treats - so a total of £11 this week. I'm away for a few days early in the week and have plenty in the freezer and cupboard so didn't need to do a big shop.

Hello, hope everyone is well and enjoying the autumnal sunshine.

As Hubby ran out of coffe this morning and refuses to drink my own brand decaf, we ended up on a trip to Mr M. They had his fave brand of coffee at half price so picked up 2 :)

Spent £70.36 but did a large shop which should easily last 2wks. Need a trip to Mr As as cat food and wine are both cheaper there but feeling on track to the original plan of £90 big shop + £30 top-up shop per fortnight:T

Hello just back from a few days away, and also going away next week for four days with grandchildren, so been to stock up at Aldis using D Mirror £5 off voucher spent 25.27. Whilst we were away last week spent 12.26 in Local tescos and then another £8.30 and a £6.00 also went out for lunch twice which used up around £20 so not too bad really I thought it would really blow the budget still on target with maybe a few extra treats for the last week in October and weather permitting a few ice creams for sprogs!!!

£7.33 added from the past couple of days, and an NSD for today. Hoping for more NSDs and less spends over the next week.

I'm still in two minds whether I'm going to stay on budget; I'm certainly going to do my best, but if any room becomes available in the freezer while the offer's still on, more Linda M sausages are getting cheerfully bought while they're half price. Incredibly useful frozen diced onions are currently half price, too [both at our friendly local-ish mid-sized Mr S].

In meal planning terms, I'm trying to focus on using what's in the almighty stash rather than bringing in new stuff and treats, but still not doing very well.

Anyone got any top tips on how to use channa dal? I'd never bought it before, and have certainly never cooked it, but at some point seem to bought a couple of bags, and they got assimilated into the heap...:rotfl:
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o

I had to drop OH off this morning and my routine was so altered I hardly did any shopping, and went into Tesco as I was passing. Thanks to someone on one of these threads I was able to grab a few wholewheat penne pasta at just 22p. I also notice Tesco have reduced their large tubs of Flora to £1.99 so stocked up on a couple of them too. OH's favourite marmalade, normally £1.48 was just £1 so picked up four of them. On checking the till receipt when I was leaving the shop I noticed I had been charged for 6, so a quick visit to Customer Svcs meant I got double my money back on the two that weren't there! I also bought a couple of Value toothpastes at 15p as I see they have the recommended 1450ppm fluouride and therefore should be just as good as any other. We will see.

I still have all freezers full and masses of tinned and packeted food so I should get by this month with just milk and fresh veg from now on. I would say I have detected a certain ratcheting up of the price wars in the last week or two, with £5 off vouchers coming out of my ears!

  • Hi - I've been MOA for ages - not on internet due to sore hand (?RSI) - then I did 2 weeks jury service, which was exhausting, then the laptop died on me when I thought I'd have a little go!

So, did not post an October target - please put me down for £65 (have worked with £60 before, but £65 is a bit more realistic).

Thanks! - and good luck to everyone else!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!
