hi all, just updated siggy with £16.53.
Heron - 98p on cup of soups
A - £10.66
T - £4.89
Left with £44.74 for the rest of the month - easy doable0 -
Just updated sig. Was planning on a trip to Aldi but settled for the nearer Sainsbury's. Spent just under a tenner on Pack up stuff and extra fruit. My new month starts on Wednesday as Dh gets paid so i've got just over £14 to last so I can finally see the light at the end of the trouble.
Its been my first month posting and ive learnt alot about my spending habits (finding NSD's really difficult). Starting to plan already for next month xxMarch 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000 -
Was not planning any more spends, but there was £5 off £25 in M&S, together with staff discount, extra 10%, and £1 off any wine.
Did 2 shops, getting 2x3 for£10 meats, and a bottle of wine for £13. Got enough meat for next month, so well stocked.
Also spent £11 at HB, taking me £13 over. Not bad, as I am so well stocked, should save next month.
Thanks to all who post!0 -
I was intending on visiting the supermarket today but stayed away. Its saved money on the extras I would have bought just because "its saturday" and I'm feeling fed up but I will need to visit tomorrow to get bread and lunch stuff for the week and other random bits such as tomato sauce and marg.
I'm still keeping track and should really tot up the total so far and report. The big home delivery shop I had at the beginning of the month killed any hope I had this month of spending as little as possible.
This week I had almost daily visits to the supermarket but I typically only bought what I needed. I still can't make up my mind whether one weekly shop (delivered) would be better for me or whether the almost daily shops work out cheaper? Certainly home delivery shops offer no opportunity to take advantage of the reduced items.
I've created a thread on the Food Shopping and Groceries board asking how fellow posters meal plan. I would be grateful for your input either on that thread or on here.
Not meal planning is my biggest downfall. I'm fed up of throwing stuff away and being generally disorganised and wasteful.0 -

£9.11 spent in Asda last night. I've been craving an indian for weeks now, so resisted and got a chicken korma 'meal for one'
I also got 2 x garlic baguettes, a box of 12 cherry bakewells, 5 x muller rice (they have a new toffee apple flavour that I had to try) and some eggs.

Do fellow posters mostly buy their veg fresh or frozen ?? I do a mixture but as I think of how I can save money, I'm thinking frozen would be the better option. I've been buying those mixed bags of veg in the supermarket quite a lot recently that you just chuck in the microwave from the fresh veg aisle but at £1.35 a pop, its a lot for veg for just one meal....0

Right,
As already stated...spent £249 in Sept/Oct...aiming for £240 Oct/nov
Today we spent £43 in trips to LIDL and ASDA and I have defrosted the freezer at last so tomorrow we're off to Iceland for a 'big' restock which will hopefully, see us through the rest of the month.
What I really need to do this month is sort out packed lunches...I keep getting bored, then I just succumb to the canteen in work...which leads to cans of coke and chocolate too...all money, money, money... I just really hate sandwiches!Mortgage starting balance - [STRIKE]£151,030 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£143,733.28[/STRIKE] £137,000 (25 years to go...):o0 -
I was in Mr S's today and managed to pick up Brunch Bars for £1 a box. I was planning to get some from HB tomorrow (not that it will stop me from still going tomorrow
). I also picked up a sandwich for lunch as I was going into work. So £6 spend there and another £6.90 at M & S too.
