Another £70.98 spent yesterday. I had to nip into town to fill some forms in so had a mooch around all the pound shops, bargain shops and charity shops before grocery shopping. Some of the things i bought were not technically grocery, however at the moment have no other budget to take them from so on the total it goes!

Managed to get two Christmas presents, six stocking fillers, 26 packets of fruit veg and flower seeds for next years garden project, some crafty bits and bobs and slipper socks which i think will be attached to my feet until Easter. Got the weeks shopping too though one or two bits are still missing so will nip and get those today. Overall happy with how the budget is going so far, I think we will come in well under for the month.

:eek:Did a midweek shop today Mr Ts spent £29.67. We're going away for a few days so am taking basics with me and am hoping I don't blow the budget with meals out. Whilst Im away Im going to grab a Pumpkin for Halloween, I have 4 grandchildren coming to mine in their costumes so weather permitting going to scatter a few torches around the garden for spooky effects, have a few games, do a little tea party and then I want a spooky DVD. I dont want to scare them to death though so can anyone suggest a good spooky movie for ages 7 and under? Already got Casper but they have seen it several times. I must also dig out my recipe for pumpkin scones. The were selling them at a school fete last year and were scrummy so I went and spoke to the teacher that made them and she kindly wrote down the recipe, they are lovely warmed and dripping with butter!!:eek::eek::eek:

In Mr T they have Shrek DVD Scared Shrekless for £5. I bought a copy for my 2 dd and they loved it. It is only 29 minutes long so even small children will enjoy.

btw i've started including takeaway in my budget again i found when i was leaving them out we were having more than we should because i didn't really think about it as much so my total included 2 chinese's and a chippy :o which is shameful

Hi All! It's probably a bit late really to be joining in with the grocery challenge so late in the month but I've only recently got into the MSE forums and am hoping if I start posting now, it wil give me some motivation to actually stick to a budget each week. Despite going shopping regularly with a budget in mind, we easily spend far too much at the supermarket, though we do have a lot of NSDs. We both think we should be able to comfortably live off £60 a week for just the two of us for food, drink, toiletries and household goods (the main things we buy) based on £35 food + £5 toiletries/household + £10 alcohol (cheaper than a night out) + £10 on pet supplies for 4 cats. When I read on the forum about people having les than that to feed a family of 4, I feel more motivated.

It's payday for us both on Friday, so I'm going to start the challenge then.

    Hi all,

    NSD again today:D

BUT - did 'invest' in an electric clothes airer from l@keland last night - have to wait a month for it to be delivered though:( must be very popular

Sausage and mash for dinner :D

Not sure whether to do an online Mr T order for the weekend (£10 voucher) or just pick up a few bits from Mr S in person - just found out DS will not be here at half term, so won,t really need too much

Have a fab evening all xx
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

hi last few days spends have been £5.27 leavng me £186.18. I am pleased with this. I have just been trying to be a bit more inventive with what I have n the house.
  • I have just updated my signature and am now at £325 out of a budget of £360 - my month ends on 26th so I am hopeful that I will do it - I SHOULD do it as my fridge and freezer are positively bulging with stuff.

I have become obsessed with going to Aldi just after the school run as they reduce their stuff to 50% off first thing in the morning and not at night there. Over the last few days I have got 3 large steak pies for £1 each, plus premium sausages, oranges, bread of all kinds, premium sliced ham (this is the nicest ham I have EVER had!), sliced roast pork, chicken quarters, potatoes, onions, cheese, grapes, a pineapple and other stuff too and my total spend on these items has been just £17, and that included Almat laundry liquid and washing up liquid. It's amazing because first thing of a morning there is hardly anyone in the store so it is easy to spot the bargains!

Tea tonight is Aldi steak pie with new potatoes and petit pois (used the MOC) for me and DD2 and left over chicken curry and rice (from the night before last) for DD1. I have updated my meal planner as it is the start of half term from tonight (two inset days!) and I should have enough stuff to last all through, with the exception of milk.

I made a batch of peanut butter and banana muffins last night and they really aren't that nice - they aren't very sweet and they are quite dry. I have frozen some but have about 8 in the tin and don't know what to do with them - any ideas? I had thought I might melt some value chocolate and make them into crumbs and mix it all up to make truffley things, but I am not sure.....

Maybe crumble them up and top with custard for puddings? It's certainly the weather to be trying that!!
