my hubby would turn his nose up at your tea lol, we will eat tatie and brocolli bake tho :) he's very bad with fruit and veg and was never made to eat it as a child or even encouraged all that much where as i love veg so we always have loads, i just wanted to suggest you bought frozen raspberrys and blueberrys and made muffins it's a nice sneaky way to get fruit in and the frozen ones aren't too bad in price maybe suggest milkshakes for breakfast you could just do banana, apple orange now fruits gonna get dear soon, and don't forget good old carrot cake :)
Thanks for that quintwins, forgot to say all that stuff was mixed in with pasta, not just carrots and brocolli in cheese sauce on its own :D I think my OH has a similar thing to your hubby, fruit and veg most certainly do not come as second nature! Carrot cake and frozen berry muffins are a fabulous idea, he loves those! I don't know why I hadn't thought of it!

Well its all gone a bit pear shaped. My eldest son arrived for an unexpected visit so instead of the plan to use up all the odds and ends from the freezer this week while OH is away I have had to supply proper food. It is so nice to see him though so its s0d the budget. It hasn't affected this weeks spends very much but I had planned to have had enough in to last me to the end of the month and I don't think it will now. I have £32.60p left so will try to limit the damage if I have to do another shop next week. To add to this my friend is coming to stay on Thursday week but then we will be away Fri/Sat/Sun together and OH will be away too. Then we will all be back here on the Sun night and she goes home on Tuesday so I will need to cater for nice food on the Monday.
Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot.

    Hi all,

    NSD today :D

BUT.... DS managed to get £30 out of me to go and watch his fav footie team play tonight, was invited by a friend - he says he,ll pay it back, but you know kids:o I will make him 'work' it back by chores if not

Bloomin freezing here, I really don,t want to put the heating on yet, but OH has sold our old wood burner (which worked perfectly well) and the new one which he just HAD to have (paid for by part barter, part selling the old one) hasn,t arrived yet:mad: we have enough wood to last at least 2 winters and I am going to have to pay the greedy energy companies for gas :eek:

Off to find another jumper :rotfl:

    Something and chips for dinner:D

Have a fab evening all xx

someone just showed me a few good deals on amazon as a result i spent £8.12 on 10 bottles of fairy and 12 bottles of cream cleaner which will prob last me a year lol, i'm gonna count it in nov budget because i don't really need it this month (or next for that matter) but it was money well spent :)

I have never thought about looking on Amazon for things like that ..... off to have a trawl through now!:D

Quintwins - maybe too late for you, but I would blanch it in hot water for a minute and then freeze it. I buy frozen stir fry veg from mr T that includes all the usual stuff and it is ok - not great, but it does the job.

    Hi Car-ree

You are doing really well. I am sure it will be a super weekend for you and the kids with your hubby coming home. :):):)

Keep going with the jar. When it fills up change it for notes (if you want to keep the cash in the house) or put it into a little savings account for your holiday. It all soon adds up.

Have you checked out some of the other challenges on here, eg. NSD challenge (no spend days)...make £5/£10 per day challenge. Also check out the recipe thread. You learn something everyday on here :)

This site is a great help and support to us all and some lovely people on here too. :)

    take care

Thankyou thats very sweet! :D Have had lots of good tips and recipies from mse!
Yes it will be great to have him home! :TAsked him what he wanted for tea when he's back, he said chinese take-away (is my cooking that bad?!) so will take that out of the 'extras' money I put by each week for swimming, haircuts, clothes for DDs etc, treats, any of that left over goes in my pot too - we have a safe so its all locked away in there, but I digress :p off to add another £2 to my sig as DD1 is having school dinners tomorrow, at my moms tomorrow for tea going to use up some puff pastry to feed DD1 and her friends who have hollow legs! and DD2, then at moms again on thurs so free tea lol, and then fingers crossed it won't all go to pot when dh comes home, money burns a hole in his pockets eek!

Hope everyone is doing well with their shopping budgets!

Well tonight is chilli. Sort of. No kidney beans, but loads of sorry looking veg with mince and spices. Will serve that to DH with naan bread.

I'm having a tuna salad with some sorry looking lettuce, some of the 6 peppers I have somehow ended up with, and a tin of mixed beans in vinaigrette I bought by accident.

Have updated sig. for last month. Over surprisingly, but I did do some stocking up even though I wasn't there all month. DH also did quite a lot of shops which is always more expensive.

ETA: Oops. £87.07 spent up to Saturday. This week will be expensive too as we are on holiday. Have to reign in again.
