  • Hi fellow "secret diary person"

Hope you get the energy bill sorted but I'm a bit relctant to change nowadays cos every time i've done it over the years the bills always start much lower then gradually increase & i've always ended up paying more. I thought eon were the cheapest just now tho. Obviously not.

  • Just checked my pay online (showing as pending for Monday) and it's £30 down, so have phoned salaries and they've told me my pension contributions have gone up . I've no recollection of being told about this and the lady on the phone was quite vague when I asked if a notice had been sent out....keep breathing Been...:(

I'll need to review the budget again, as this is a 'forever' change, although will be offset with my payrise from next month. One step forward....and another back :(.

Does this mean your pension pot will be bigger in the end?

I'm not really sure Banwa, although I have a sneaky suspicion it's because the fund overall is underfunded at the moment. TBH, who knows where our pensions will be in x years time? Things are so uncertain in this area :(. It's important to pay in though....

Hi Been in the long term that £30 will hopefully serve you much better as a pension even though it would be very handy at the moment - remember this moment when you are a wealthy debt free pensioner with a lovely pension every month to spend on whatever you chose (instead of loan/card repayments!) :D

  • I'm in a money purchase pension and that went up and I had to start paying in more each money.

They sent me a booklet on the performance and general information about pensions yesterday.

With my pension I have to buy an annuity when I'm ready. They stated that to receive a pension of about £10,000 per year, you need £175,000 in the pension pot before you buy an annuity.

I couldn't believe it. I think I will end up old and with not very much money. :o

If I can make a million now I'd be laughing. ;)

  • Well the post brought a cashback cheque for £25 from ph0n3s 4 U today :T This is the first of two cheques I'm expecting. So before it gets swallowed up in daily living expenses, I'm going to make a payment off the target card :D.

No cheque from the insurance yet, so am going to send them an email to chase it up.

We did our monthly C0stco shop yesterday - £213 . About £11 of this will come from the clothes and Christmas budget, but that still leaves £202 spent out of the grocery budget. That now leaves us with about £44/week (for 5 shops). Let's hope it lasts :o.

Great news about the cheque Been. :j

I am also very nervous about my shopping budget what with my RIDICULOUS spend this week.

  • Well I had a response from my car insurers today, which basically says that they won't refund me until I return my policy. Not an issue as such, except I'm really annoyed that in all the correspondence I've received from them:

    - day of cancellation, online calculation of refund amount and promise of cheque within 14 days
    - day of cancellation, email confirmation of cancellation and promise of cheque within 14 days
    - letter with my NCD cert

they've never mentioned that they needed the policy BEFORE (or even at all for that matter) they would issue a cheque . What's more, they're now saying they need a further 30 days from date of receipt of policy to enable them to calculate the refund :mad:.

I HATE INSURERS, they are rip-off merchants
