Thanks for popping in and posting Gailey
. I really appreciate the encouragement! I'll pop over and have a read of your diary
I enjoyed a little lie-in this morning which was lovelyand then headed off to do so Av0n bits. Collected a few orders, so have been able to update my Make £10/day November Challenge. I'm finding this challenge really motivating - long may the motivation continue
!
This afternoon I've been to Arg0s to spend the voucher. Didn't get the microwave though as my iron has packed up, so ended up replacing that instead. It felt good to be able to 'spend' without it causing worry or ending up on the credit card.
Found 5p while out too.
So overall I'm feeling happy and positive tonight.

OK, need to start with a list to get myself motivated!
- phone e0n to find out what my final balance is (hoping for a refund)
- find out when first payment to Sc0tP0wer will debit
- update spreadsheet
- make a payment to the target card, even if it's only £1
- aim for a couple of NSD this week
- stick to mealplan (delivery from 4sda due later today)
- renew OHs monthly train ticket later this week
- sort out school shoes for DS...still not done
- DS has seen a superdry top on ebay he wants, so get this ready for Christmas
.
I checked the T3sco CC balance yesterday and it's now showing at £920. There's interest to go on this, but even with that, it won't go above the £1k again!!!!

Update....
Spoke to e0n yesterday about my final bill, but they haven't finished calculating it yet, although they confirmed that the gas is in credit. They offered to transfer the balance back to me, but as they haven't calculated the electricity yet, I've decided to wait, just in case there's a debit to offset. Apparently this should be all complete by the end of the month.
Checked with Sc0tPower and they will start taking payments from 2nd Dec. I've already allowed for a payment in November, so now have £150 'free' in the budget :T. I've decided to make a payment of £35 to the T3sco cc, but will hold on to the balance for now as we still haven't replaced Ds's school shoes.
Right, off to make that cc payment.

Payment to T3sco cc of £35 - done
.
Then I nipped over to B-card to make the minimum payment (this card is at 0%). I'd allowed for £63.50, but payment due was £61, which I've done.
So, I then popped back to T3sco and made another payment of £2.50 which was left over from the BCard payment :rotfl:.
A little obsessive, I think:rotfl:.

DS' top bought online last night, so another thing off the list, but still no luck with his school shoes. Tried to get some online, but the ones he wants are out of stock
. Going to have another trawl of the shoe shops later today.
Also need to get some money back from savings to cover Christmas purchases so far and money for DD as it's her birthday this week. Birthdays always used to be a panic, but I'm now putting a regular sum into my savings account so that I can draw it out when each birthday pops up. This effort started with £20/month, but this month I was able to put £70 into savings and next month I'm planning on £135. This money is also to cover car repairs, insurance and tax too, btw, not just birthdays! It's really beginning to help with the budgeting

Hi, have been reading your diary,
My situation is a little different to yours as I was made redundant 2 years ago and ended up taking a 35% pay cut (fortunately no debt)...but big cut backs were needed, like you I now have an extra account that each month I 'save' towards all the non monthly expenses. It takes all the pressure off knowing that the money is there when needed rather than juggling.
For me it has been the best thing I have ever done, and seems so simple (and logical looking back) but something I never did before....
You are doing a great job and your diary is a pleasure to read, full of motivation!Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -

Thanks Going4theDream, thanks for your kind words, it really helps.
I agree, it's a simple concept, but so easy to overlook when the debt/cut backs seem so overwhelming. It's made a huge difference to my budgeting and lifted a lot of the ongoing worry. Our car tax, MOT and insurance are all due in January. I'm hoping I will have enough saved to cover these, but even if I haven't got it all, I should have most of it.

I tried it in the past but didn't have the discipline. I would just dip into it when I wanted (wanted, not needed) something. Then dipping into the credit card when I needed something.
Wat Christmas shopping have you done so far?Debt £26k 18/10/140 -
Hi Banwa
I've deliberately made it a bit awkward to get hold of my savings. In the past I just had "savings" in my linked account with my current account, but now I have a separate savings account with Principality (you can have pots for different things which is really useful). As it takes a few days to get the money back, I can't buy on impulse
, plus, as the amounts have increased I'm less inclined to want to dip into it as I'm enjoying seeing the balances go up
.
I haven't made much of a dent in the Christmas shopping. Got a couple of light up mirrors in the sales last January for my girls, a S-dry top for my DS and a few stocking fillers so far. They are beginning to let us know now what they want, so I'll be looking to really get going in the next couple of weeks. What about you?
