  • On the plus side though, there was some good news in the post - I've received an unexpected statement from Nationwide for an account I'd forgotten about. There's only £8.68 in there, but I'll be finding out tomorrow how to draw it out so I can pay it off the CC :D

OH has also traded in DDs old phone, we could get £22 cash or £24 Arg0s vouchers. We've gone with the latter as we need a microwave. Ours blew up in July and we've been wanting to replace it for months. I'd worked this into the plan for next month, so this is a bonus :).

Well I closed the Nationwide account today and now have the £8.68 in my purse, but DD has already asked for £3 so she can go to another fitness class tonight. It's so frustrating, I really don't want to say no (and haven't actually) as it seems petty and ultimately I don't want to stop them exercising. So, that's £3 gone this evening.

The voucher from the phone exchange has now come though :), which is good news. We'll have a look at microwaves online later to see how far it will stretch and if we need to put an extra money to it.

  • I've updated my spreadsheet today. First hiccup was an unexpected payment for a magazine subscription, I pay them annually but have managed to leave them off the budget :o (we have two, one is mine, one is OH's).

After plugging that in plus the movements since the last time I looked at it, we now have a projected over OD balance of £11. I'm not too stressed about that at the moment, but I am concerned about the food budget for the rest of the month as we're failing every week to stay within budget.

On top of that, I've made a few purchases towards Christmas (haven't hit the bank yet). These have been heavily discounted due to a friend who can get some things from a factory shop and other stuff (football boots :T) from a closing down sale. These two items come to £80, so I'll be drawing this out of the savings account tonight to replenish my current account.

We've also needed to buy flea treatment for the cats - £15, so I'm going to draw out £110 in total to cover these spends plus a bit towards the food budget (£80 from Christmas pot and £30 from the emergency fund). Just hope it doesn't take too long to hit the current account.

  • Good news on the pay rise. :)

I know what you mean about treatment for the animals. It costs us about £7 every 3 months for cat treatment. :(

I know what you mean about shopping budget. I think I have set ours too low. We may get there eventually, but I did cut it down by 33%. Too far, too fast.

Keep up the great work you are doing! :rotfl:
