Kia beating them in both years of course
(I do however think these surveys should be taken with a big old shovel of salt)
Any poorly maintained vehicle will be troublesome, I don't recommend scrimping and saving on the servicing of any vehicle.0 -
Probably none, I've driven the Kia quite a bit (though the 2 litre diesel) and had a reasonable drive of the c4. I prefer the looks of the c4 but the horrid steering would put me off.
I would echo the sentiments above r.e power though, drive both and make sure you are happy with what's on offer. The 2 litre kia oil burner is hardly quick, though adequate as is the 110bhp version of the psa unit. I know I couldn't live with the lower powered units0 -
i've had a C4 1.6 HDI for nearly 2yrs now from new...always hated french cars with a passion but this one's converted me
still VERY pleased with it and in a year or so probably look at the new shape c4 as a replacementWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
thanks for the replies. I was interested in a 90bhp diesel really to get better economy. I taken a test drive in a 1.6 C4 90bhp and it did not feel slow at all.0

Of course you should follow the schedule, going to non-main dealer (that uses original parts) is fine, skipping services is another storyAh right.
Still - scrimping on servicing is the last thing you should be doing if you drive high mileages, especially in a Citroen!
I remember my dad had a 2.0l petrol similar size car a while back and it had 90bhp. That was considered pretty decent at the timeYou mean about the same as the C4 in question?
Most eco diesels are "way underpowered" if you'd call 90bhp in a hatch "way underpowered". I can think of worse.
Yup this is vecause those surveys show averages, and people don't understand averages! To really know what you can expect you'd need much more about the statistics than just the averages. (Such as standard deviation http://www.gummy-stuff.org/SD-stuff.htm).Kia beating them in both years of course

Sorry, a reliable good value Korean car with a 7 year warranty or a silly French thing with 3 years warranty? I know which I'd rather have. Kia probably has more buttons for the money too.
This warranty thing - I understand there's usually no problem honouring the warranty itself if you've serviced the car with an independent, but the trouble can come when you're wanting a goodwill gesture for something that is borderline on the warranty or excluded. You're more likely to get a contribution if you've serviced it in house.0 -

at one time citroens were not so good, but i used to have a picasso and there was a decent work horse. I like the style and shape of the C4 but also impressed by the Ceed. However, i do notice that Kia resale values do appear much lower than other manufacturers, although i hope to keep which ever car i buy for a few years.0 -
In the real world its unlikely you'll see any difference between the 90 and 110/115 variants. That's irrelevant anyway, so long as you are happy with the car.
If you plan to keep the car for a number of years then tbh the kia makes more sense to me. Neither is going to be worth much at 5 years old, but you aren't paying a premium for the car to start with0
