This thread has descended into bickering and in some cases nastiness between posters - not at all helpful to the OP. Unfortunately i have no answer regarding the OP's questions as I have never been in that position. I would suggest asking CAFCASS if they can tell you what happens next.
Try these sites from Google - i don't know if any will help though.

All I can go by is my hearing...thats why I asked where you were in relation to cafcass and age of your child
this is mine
court summons arrive - whats access, and parental responsibility (we weren't married, not named on DD's birth certificate, and with dd born in 2002 before they changed the law to give dads automatic parental responsibility
get a solicitors advice
cafcass have telephone interview with us both
1st court hearing - he never turned up adjourned but cafcass were told to complete full meetings 1 to 1 with us and prepare full welfare reports
we attended seperately, gave version of events,
2nd court hearing he didn'turn up - adjourned - court recommended that DD be interviewed by cafcass
DD was interviewed by cafcass (she was 8 1/2 at time) she was interviewed at school - report prepared
3rd court hearing - he made it - were still in major dispute - courts refused him parental responsibility, but started suggesting indirect contact, letters, calls etc
Court ordered him to prepare a lifebook about himself and whats he done etc
DD had to see cafcass officer to go through the report, (in my case cafcass made an error and showed me the book 1st, meant was able to block a lot of the contents out
Report prepared for court
Hearing 4 - decided that DD write to her dad, she did that, then she had to return to cafcass to have his reply read.
Awaiting hearing 5.
In my case despite DD writing that she wants nothing to do with him, and even telling cafcass that, unfortunately they are pushing the indirect contact,
In court, the judges will already have the cafcass report, they tend to read that, one of the magistrates may ask a question, answer honestly, keep calm.
Just becuase your ex has a solicitor, doesn't mean he has the upper hand, the courts main concern are the children and their welfare.
If - there are issues such as violence etc, explain this to cafcass, make sure everything gets documented, your able to back up the allegations.
Depending on the age of the child and what they have witnessed etc is taken into account, in general the age is 9, that they take the childs views into serious consideration.
