    Go to the cafcass website

You will see a link to Community Legal Services with more links to mediators and so forth in your area.

I would have a word with the cafcass person preparing the court report. I take it that they will be speaking to you and your child before the hearing and talking through options. Personally, I would avoid the expense and hassle of court proceedings at all costs and go for mediation.

I represented myself in court for my daughter's custody. The judge was really kind and to be honest I think it went in my favour as everything i said was from the heart! I just had to remember not to speak until I was spoken to though!!

It is not for you to decide , I'm sure the lad will be fine, let the courts decide, Mum does not always know best sadly, good luck with the case though.
  • Can you not ask for supervised visits? Then your son can have time with both parents?

Until you know the fully story this is an unfair post, the father could have been violent, a drug addict, rapist anything. Not every mother is a witch trying to deprive her ex of access.
mortgage free by christmas 2014 owed £5,000, jan 2014 £4,170, £4,060, feb £3,818 march £3,399 30% of the way there woohoo
If you don't think you can go on look back and see how far you've come

Well naturally you would type that, it's the usual story (Original post) of some pathetic person claiming to be a mother, with respect you do not know the full details either, however we do know the OP's ex is not a rapist as she would have been shouting that when the boy was being concieved, the rest is just supposition and the Op could equally be guilty of your claims to the boy's father, having known others that have been through similar , these are usual accusations levied by spiteful Mothers, indeed it is not the case everytime, although I'm not sure what the OP's fears are unless the accusations are false , sorry :o
  • Wow bitter. The Op said there were child protection issues not the ex is an !!!. Though describing women as unfit mothers and spiteful shows you have issues.

    No, we don't know that.

He could have raped the OP after the child was born, how do you know that him raping her wasn't the cause of the relationship breakdown?

He could have raped someone else and the OP didn't know about it until the relationship breakdown.

He could have raped somebody since the relationship breakdown and therefore the OP no longer feels her son is safe around the father.

Nobody apart from the OP knows what the boys father is/isn't until she gives more of the story. Which she doesn't have to, she asked a simple question, not for judgement on the decision she has made. It's up to the judge to decide whether her reasons are justified or not, not a money saving forum.

I didn't say all Mothers though did I? There are many many females that can split from the father of their children without starting to throw aperstions about the ex, don't you think the courts would have the experience to identify the false accusations? As we don't know the full story, we do not know if the OP is just protect 1 or 2 7ths of CS monies , lets not pretend none of these 'tricks' do not occur as you full well know they do :p

That part I fully agree with, I have friends who have been through the access game, similar sort of false accusations levied against them, they both represented themselves against solicitors and both won their case which can only be good for the children :)
