That may be chkdsk /f or chkdsk /r both with the space0

Hi everyone, thanks for you help, but my PC does not work at all now, so I will have to pay to get it fixed as I simply cant do it. I dont want to lose all my stuff and if I complete install myself I will lose everything, as I dont know how to do it without losing stuff, so will have to pay our arm and leg to get it fixed now, I am so bloody angry with it that I feel like just chucking it out the window now, all I get is the blue screen with errors and when I load in safe mode everything is big, its the graphics card up the wall. I can fiddle about inside it as I dont know what I am doing. And will only make it worse. I am replying from another pc.0

i fixed this on my xp as follows;
go to Start>>>RUN
Type cmd and hit enter
a black window will appear (Dos prompt), then type;
CHKDSK/F
wait till it completes the scan and it will fix any errors and it should resolve the problem.
hope it helps0 -
Ask whoever looks at it if they will try another graphics card.
If you can load in to safe mode then you can try clicking start then run, type chkdsk /r (with the space) then click OK, it will say volume locked, and ask if you want to run at next start up, type Y to confirm then press enter and restart the PC. The check will take ages and will not to much for a faulty graphics card, however, it will check and repair what it can, which may put it in a better position when it goes for repair.
There is a repair install option for XP as long as you have a same version XP CD and the product key
http://camtech2000.net/Pages/XP_Repair.htm
The important bit is not to choose the recovery console here
Select the first option "To set up Windows XP now, press Enter".
DO NOT select the second option - "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console"
Windows XP repair feature won't delete your data, installed programs, personal information, or settings. It just repairs the operating system.
The system repair function will remove any updates you have previously installed that are not included on the CD. When finished, you may have to download all of the updates from Microsoft Windows Update, because they are all replaced during repair. It may be necessary to reactivate your Windows XP as well.0 -
