  • Hi there. I've just applied online. I got quoted 12.9% at £5000. However I decided to put the limit to £1500. I went through the application however I pressed exit twice on the second last page so I didn't get to see what the message was on the last page. I don't know if I've been accepted or not. Do you get conformation email? How long does it take to get the card from them, I save my current account with them so shouldn't have to prove I'd!

    Thanks

Just a quick update. I logged into online banking today and found that the credit card account was showing. Right enough it shows £1500 available! So I'm just waiting for my card to arrive. I'm really pleased as the only credit card I could get last year was a capital one credit builder at 30%!

Now all my accounts are with nationwide, who have just been excellent!

I was accepted for the nationwide credit card when I wasn't an account holder I wondered if anyone know now I'm a customer I can apply for their other card?

Their Select one? Well it says it's for their customers only, so what have you go to lose? Maybe pop in and see what they say?
  • Hi

I applied for the nationwide card with 0% for balance transfers for 20months and digitally signed on sat 26th Jan. I thought all would be good, but today I still haven't received the card so I phoned Nationwide.

They told me that the application was incomplete and did I want to do it again!! I explained what I had done, and the chap asked me to hold on for a while whilst he had a look. I didn't want to risk another app, in case more than one in a short space of time would lead to a decline second time round.

He then confirmed that the application was ok and I will receive my card in 7-10 working days. When I asked why there had been a delay this time, the chap said because I had applied on-line, their records hadn't updated.

Does this seem odd? Or am I just being over anxious? Just want to balance transfer a high interest balance, which I wish I had done at the time now...

    Thanks

No, you need to ask them to upgrade your existing account but you don't get all the benefits - you get the 0.5% cash back and fee free overseas spending but don't get the better APR or interest free on purchases.

The only way to get the better APR is close and settle your existing card, wait 30 days, and re-apply. If you want the Select cards interest free offers you need to close and settle your existing card and wait 12 months before re-applying.

    Good luck! :o

Hopefully will be a good outcome, been quoted £3800 at 15.9 apr. Came up to digitally sign etc etc just taking up the offer of 1.55% transfer fee and 20 months balance transfer at the moment. Just done both car insurances and car taxes on tesco credit card. Was going to pay off at end of month but think will put away cash in a 12 month saving pot and pay off monthly within a year! Cheers Nationwide!!!

Just a little quirk to this which may or not be of interest .
I have been getting quotes on and off for a while now waiting for some negatives to drop off my file and therefore to drop below 19.9 .
I got a quote of 19.9 the day after the default dropped off.
However I applied for a full nationwide bank account afterwards , I was accepted, and then pre approved for a credit card at 15.9
I know that won't help many people but might be worth considering .
