Options
What a farce!
For last 6 years Ive been reporting my ex husband and fatherinlaw for benefit fraud.
This is the 4th time now Ive given the town hall an address where they are at now.Fatherinlaws car is parked outside property. No curtains up so clearly visible as painting and decorating.
Fatherinlaw is on full housing/council tax benefits possibly disability for his knees hge shouldnt be going up ladders.
Ex husband nothing a good kicking wouldnt sort out.Hes on incapacity as hes under a shrink for trying to top himself he used to be violent towards me.I get zilch maintenance since seperation 2001.He now has another girl pregnant.
They work full time on the fiddle it makes me mad that they can go on lash whilst I struggle to put uniform on his kids who he doesnt see.
Town halls response uh oh no we cant go out and see today.Praps once we have looked into it.Well ive taken photos they will be long gone by then.
Benefits helpline advised ringing local press as they only forward info to town hall.
Rang local press they can only take stance of town halls laxx attitude cant investigate.
Really takes the michael.
Any suggestions?I want maintenance.
Can guarentee if I had a friend to stay they would be straight round.
I am utterly furious and disgusted.
Worse they have the brass balls to be working one road up from my kids school under my nose.Really takes the michael.

  • You are actually allowed to work and earn a certain amount if you are on IB, up to 16 hours a week I think, under the Permitted Work Scheme. Maybe your ex father-in-law isn't the one who goes up the ladders.

I agree though that if your ex is earning (even if he's not fiddling) then he should help support your child. I don't know how you can go about getting your maintenance, maybe CSA?

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Trust me they are doing this full time.Making around £500 each per week.Rent nicely paid on top.
Any suggestions any government dept that will actually bother to go out and investigate?
I intend taking photos everyday to send to press taxman and town hall.
If they see me they will hide vehicle as have done before tbh time is off the essence.

Why go to the town hall? If you really want to report someone there is a specific website set up: https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/benefitfraud/

You must be very very sure that what you believe is fact. If not, there could be reprucussions on you for lodging a false claim. This kind of thing must not be done lightly.

There will be no repercussions on a false allegation!! They will investigate depending on the information you give them. Unfortunately, in order to observe anybody they have tor fill in vast amounts of forms and get permission from higher grades and this takes days to do, so it is difficult to get evidence when people do one off jobs. If the job they are doing is legit as far as the Town Hall are concerned, the Fraud people onlyneed to ask them for the details of who they employed and what they paid etc so it is possible unless they gave false details, which is possible. You should always report them though if you suspect there is a fraud going on. It is their job to investigate to establish that fact. If it isn't, then there is no problem. They are not allowed to tell the person who made the allegation, so don't worry about that at all!! Don't suppose you can get some photos?

The benefit fraud online form and helpine only refer matters apparently to local town halls.
Re employment they are working cash in hand for themselves so answer to nobody.Only way is to catch them doing it.So i'll continue to photograph.I have some from this morning.Only problem being if they see me with my ex having a violent disposition towards me and his kids.
I am reporting them purely selfishly as I do want maintenance and this is only way of getting it.My eldest before my marriage is special needs.I had 3 children by my ex husband. He left when youngest was 9 weeks.Hes 6 next month doesnt know what he looks like but yet now has spawned another kid with some other idiot.I think least he can do is contribute to their upkeep.
I have told benefits who i am its apparently obvious but I feel thats prejudicing them looking into it.

Good on you! Regardless of your personal motives these people are stealing from the state and so deserve to be caught. No wonder this country is in such a mess when there are people out there willing to deprive others of their rightful claims! If people only ever claimed their entitlement there may be more to go to the truely needy such as the elderly who have to pay for their own care because of cut backs! It makes me mad! It also makes me mad that parents refuse to pay for their children, so go for it and I hope you get somewhere!

So what is there to prevent malicious repeat allegations? (i am not suggesting there is in OP's case).

I myself have been reported now on 4 occasions. I KNOW who is reporting me and i know from the very specific details given that it is the same person reporting me each time. I know who is reporting me because part of the allegation includes information that only myself, my partner and one other person has access to (and it isn't information that could be guessed). However this information does not contradict my right to benefits but the complete *&^% that keeps reporting me thinks it does and therefore always adds it to the allegation although the main part fo the allegation is slightly different each time.

Each time I have had the upsetting letter about a "compliance officer coming round" or a fully-fledged "fraud officer". Each time I have been able to prove beyond a doubt that the imformation is completely and wholly incorrect but as the info is slightly different each time, they keep investigating me. At each visit I have stated who i believe has reported me and gave reasons as to why they are behaving maliciously. However the reports are always made to the national helpline and made anonymously.

Is there nothing I can do to stop this? I know i have done nothing wrong and i know i have nothing to hide but it *is* upsetting being accused of things despite being cleared once the visits take place.

I have not done anything wrong and nothing ever comes of these investigations. I live in fear of these visits because they do worry me because just being accused of fraud is upsetting.

I look forward to the day the anonymous reporter drops down dead - hopefully after a long and painful death!

Well at least you knwo the benefits people ARE investigating him because if they weren't then he wouldn't know to report you to the SS.
I know I have nothing to fear but but they are upsetting. Call me sensitive, but i feel mortified i am even being accused of a crime! Also i fear that eventually the DWP will think that there is no smoke without fire and really put me through the ringer. Don't think my nervous could handle it!
