Ok it's annoying but it is a free benefit that they provide.
Anything is better than nothing - especially when it's free.
How is it a free benefit?
We all pay for it. This cost is part of the costing Tesco implement in deciding prices. Do you really think they are giving you something for nothing?
They calculate that at slightly higher prices people will still come and but from us. Therefore half the profit can go on Clubcard deals. And PLEASE REMEMBER, the 3x or 4x multiplier is usually down to the other companies offering this amount. Hence when the Open University stopped allowing the vouchers for level 2 or 3 courses it was because they only got the face value of the vouchers. Why isn't Martin asking questions like "with record profits why exactly is it such hard times for Tesco"................ Have you ever wondered what
¦OO¬¬ O[]¦ Martin would look like

I used to have a CLUBCARD PLUS, and get points for E.On energy bills.
The thing is, it's all very convenient to get stuff from Tesco, but it's cheaper if you know where to go.
With E.On, I save far more by being on the cheapest tariff, than the tariffs that qualify for Tesco points.
We do our veg and fruit shop from a high street with loads of green grocers: Turkish, Egyptian, Afghanistani, I think even Iraqi! We have been gorging on 5 for £1 sweet corn for two weeks now. Delicious and as good as any. Tesco is selling 4 for £2!
I do like the Reduced section in Tesco. Half price Jalfrezzi ready meal is very handy.0 -
Theyre giving you something for free. No one can really complain0

They should stop doing buy 1 get 1 free, thats just making people spend more who cant afford it. it would be much better to do half price instead....but that doesn't increase sales0

As of now, tesco have (for delivery from my local store) 296 items with half price.
Of the 34 BOGOF offers, only 6 are on perishable foods.
Of those, only one could really be described as something people on a budget would purchase.
Well - having said that - they are doing Pataks Curry paste at BOGOF - which is quite economical, used right, so I might get some of that. (probably around 10 jars)0 -

comping cat - re-read the story. Not everything is going to be 4x, it is only going to be their "most popular" at 4x. I suspect this will not include holidays, and presume more things will stay at 3x value than go up to 4x value.
Hit the nail on the head0 -
Tesco also reduced the number of Clubcard points which could then be converted to Airmiles/BA miles last year and in their justification for doing so stated that customers were actually better off due to the double points. Don't forget also that points on fuel were also slashed to 1 for every £2.00 of fuel. I feel quite let down and so will be taking my business elsewhere.0

The data we give them for free when we apply for a clubcard and do our shopping gives them data that is worth £££.
They don't do this out of the kindness of their hearts. They want to know who buys what and when and how much."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0
