  • The thing is that everything governments and central banks try now is futile.

They are all temporary measures trying to hold off the inevitable slide back into recession.

Global consumer confidence is just not there. Very few people believe that the developed countries are going to find a way out of this. People are just battening down the hatches again.

Is it bellow 1.54? it was in Dec 2010.

Not sure what your point is.

It's 1.543 at the moment. What has Dec 2010 got to do with anything?

Wrong reason - it was because I decided to invest my SIPP cash yesterday.

For a small fee I'm happy to stay in cash. Every time I buy the market plunges - sorry!

I'm afraid for the same reason it is going to fall even more because I have just (5 mins ago) topped up my non isa ftse tracker

I think you missed this part of what I stated...
Seems the pound is just about to hit

Never said it was lower, hence me not understanding your point of asking me if it was lower.

    Couldn't resist a look in.

I had a little bet with myself that there would be a thread titled something like "stock market crash" etc. and the author would be Graham. I attribute this to GD being entirely predictable rather than being able to see into the future.

Expect further falls as per Old Slaphead and Chuck - I've invested accumulated SIPP dividends today.

    Whats with the bitterness?

I posted an event that happened today - pretty big one considering. I know you would rather ignore the event, but this board is about the economy.

    Near 5% down now.

If you would like to just read optimism, theres some sand left on the III boards which I'm sure others would be delighted for you to join them and bury your head too.

I'm not bitter. I'm delighted that my GD forecasting skills are still in tip top condition.

That and I've bought a chunk of shares 4% cheaper than I could have done yesterday.

In "real" terms, compared to FTSE, my houses have gone up a considerable amount today already.

    Don't you mean "flats"

Which may well be worth 5% less by tomorrow. :(
