Morning ladies, feel much brighter today:) Its ds3 17th birthday today.:j:j
Chilly here this morn, sky is blue and no washing to do, so am going to put woofers blankets through the machine much to his disgust. He will sit in front of the machine watching them.
Re the woofer's blanket - my darling Penny-Dog used to sit there and look at me as if to say "Humph!! I just got it smelling nice and doggy, and you have to go and wash it. I'm not amused".:D Bless her, I still miss her, nine years on.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Morning all:o
Have woke up in an "Is this all there is to life?" mood today. When I think of where I was career wise 3 years ago, and now it really upsets me, all down to gov cuts.I need to find a job that sees teaching as a transferable skill, as can't keep relying on getting bits and bobs of supply work here and there while they replace us with cover supervisors for a 1/4 of the price:mad::mad:
RANT OVER!!!
Am off to meet an ex colleague in the same position as me, so will have a brainstorming sesh, as well as a general goss:D:D
OS CBA today, he can eat cake as far as i'm concerned:D:D;););)
(((huggles))) to all the poorlies and peed offs on the thread, soz haven't read yet but will do later xx:A:A"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Hi everyone,
Hugs to all those in need - I read every day so I know that some of you have been going through it lately. Jackie O, I hope your arm becomes more comfortable with your treatment.
Life is passing very quickly at present. We're going away in a couple of weeks to the US we're doing a road trip across New England and upstate New York. SisiL is coming with us and we're being joined by a cousin who lives in Florida for the last week so it should be good. DH has done lots of research and we have tried to be as moneysaving as possible. I'm hoping to get a few C!!!!!!!!! presents while I'm there. I need to do a practise pack as I want to leave room in my case.
I've not put the heating on yet either and amazingly British Gas have reduced our gas DD by £20 - this winter will be my first not working so we'll have to see how much more it will cost us.
DS has received a number of letters from the tax man - the first giving him a ridiculously small code because they said he had underpaid last year, then a higher code, omitting the underpayment, then a letter telling him he had overpaid and finally a cheque for £66.46 for the overpayment. It really makes you wonder if they know what they are doing.
Must go and make lunch, then I want to take the dog out and practise with the new camera we got for our trip.0 -
Afternoon all
Thanks for all the good wishes.
Well I'm feeling much better now I'm lolling around at home rather than slogging away at work, I think they got fed up with my coughing & spluttering so they sent me home.
Dw has been emptied & refilled, WM's been on a washing is on the line & a 2nd load in the machine, back to lolling on the sofa now.
Hugs Hester

Afternoon everyone, hope all with colds and bugs are getting better. Lots of people at work are ill, and the usual gender argument ensued when a bloke was the first to take time off :rotfl:
I go back to uni on monday but still no timetable, been making sneaky calls all morning trying to get info and my modules clash. The office have been no help and I now have to leave work early to chase lecturers around. Grrrr!!
Not sure about tea tonight as I forgot to take stuff out the freezer for fish lasagna and I like saving my soups for lunches. Might go home via the park as I saw a lovely recipe for chestnut & nettle rissotto :jLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Back to afternoon postings I'm afraid. Lovely day here on the Sunshine Isle, wish I had some washing to put out, but it all seems up to date - wish I could say the same about the ironing. Blitzed the sitting room this morning then had unexpected caller - miracle, they usually come just before I clean.
Foodwise I'm still foraging in the cupboards and freezer. Apart from fresh fruit and veg I've not bought any significant food this month so far. Tonight it's corned beef, (store cupboard) cauliflower cheese (tired looking cauli in fridge), saute potatoes, (left over from yesterday) and tomatoes, (garden.) I'm about to start another cooking marathon for the wake after a big funeral next Tuesday. Have promised sandwiches, cheese scones, mini quiches etc. etc. Not cakes this time, thank goodness.
I should be working on the Church Magazine, not playing about on here so will be very strong minded and sign off.
Love to all who need it. Uolypool: you are sounding more positive, well done you.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Lame Wolf: Sorry, I've just re-read your message. Flower, you are coping. It may not feel like that but forget that horrible word 'scrapheap'. You are a precious person, never forget that.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Afternoon all
((((hugs)))) to all those in need
I had an early start this morning, I had my appt with the private vertigo specialist. It was in Aberwystwyth, which is an almost 2 hour drive awayso we left at 7.30am. My Dad came with me. I drove there in the new car. The specialist was lovely, and he confirmed what type of vertigo I have, and then treated me
I was more or less flung around on a bed (to try to dislodge the crystal in my inner ear which cause the vertigo). He was positive that it would work and if it does it's the best £125 I've spent! I did feel quite nauseous after so my Dad drove home.
As I had been seen by 10am we went to the town to explore. They have a funicular (sp?) - an electric train up the steep coastal hill, so we went up that and at the top there was a camera obscura, which my Dad loved. After that we went down the train again, and walked by the prom. We headed home then but stopped off halfway to have lunch in a little hotel restaurant. It was lovely to spend some time with my Dad
I'm exhausted now thoughgoing to try have a little nap
OS wise - WM will go on later
Have a good afternoon all
