Good morning to one and all. A really cold start here this morning; the forecast was for sun so I've washed the dressing gowns ready for hanging out on the line, and it doesn't look as if the sun is going to keep it's promise!

Hester - I hope you feel better soon.

Jaxx - hot salt water rinses are good for wisdom teeth that are causing pain. (I used to be a dental nurse in a previous life!).

Well, having been confined to the house for the last few days because someone in need has borrowed DH's van and DH has been using my car, I finally have the car back - for one day only, special offer - so I can go and do some shopping. We live just five minutes drive from the shops but it's down long country lanes which would take hours to walk, and there's no buses here, either! I really do need to get stocked up; we've been living out of the store cupboards and freezer, which is no bad thing. It's surprising how many meals you can make when you are pushed into a corner!

I had put the ironing board up yesterday morning and five hours later I still hadn't done anything with it, so I made a real effort to get it done while I was cooking the dinner last night.

Anyway, dinner tonight will be quiche, salad, and potatoes - I don't know what time DH will be back this evening, so I thought I'd do something that I could prepare earlier and dish up whenever he gets in. Oh, the logistics of it all!

All this talk of heating is making me think. We have oil-fired heating here and I've just priced it up at .89 euros a litre. I also checked prices in the UK on boilerjuice.com and it's only £.60p, which is a huge difference. I shall have to bite the bullet and order some in but it's going to hurt having to pay so much more for it!

Well, I hope you all have a good day.

    Morning all.

Hugs to all that need them.

Have had to put heating on for an hour in the mornings to make sure bathroom is warm enough to shower in, not needed it at night yet.

Bread just taken out of BM, WM just about to be started with a quick load which will be ready as I get back with the dogs and should be able to hang it out.

Now to convince the dogs it is not that cold. They were clipped yesterday and because it was wet and cold last night they had their new coats on for their evening walk .

Going to try pizza dough in the BM for dinner tonight. Hope to get something done in the house and to fit in a run as well.

    morning!
(((hugs))) all round where required to those feelinbg poorly or with sad news.

Am off to take my sister to the hospital today to see if her foot is better and can have the plaster off. We'll have a nice coffee out afterwards.
Later am off into work for a retirement party for one of my friends - you may remember her as Janet who a while ago had a big cancer op but got through it successfully. Our friend the lovely Diva was very supportive to me during that time as I was really worried about my friend and I was very gratefu to her for being so caring.

House is tidy - no washing as machine is still out of order but hopefully will be sorted later as the engineer is coming late afternoon - fingers crossed as the laundry bin is full.

Roast dinner tonight - pork for the chaps, just the veg and yorkshire pud for me.

Have a great day all x

    Good morning everyone!

Hester hope you feel better soon.

    Molly ((hugs))

JackieO hope your arm is better.

    JackieG how's you gal?

    Hi mummy2jack.

Sending energy to all who had a late night last night.

I didn't sleep well, tossed and turned....visitor and I watched the end of Avatar last night and I think it was too much TV too late! Anyway v packed up and gone to work. She will be driving back to London tonight and then will drive back next week to Gloucester to her new digs for this contract. It was nice to see her-we have been friends since we started uni in 1989. I was a mature student and she was 19. She is 41 now and we have seen her through uni, law school etc. She was kind enough to say that staying with us was like coming home....

So it's just me here today......until OH and DS get home from work.

I shall pick up little car Poppy from my friend's later as she went on a visit to them to leave room on drive for visitor's car. She is insured for them to drive as they had a car crisis earlier in the year and Poppy came to the rescue then.

Mmm what for tea? We had a lovely salad to start with last night-rocket, mixed green stuff, tomato ,sliced figs with a wild rice and diced carrot small salad with a lime dressing from M&S stirred into it with lemon juice and olive oil. That was visitor's idea and it was the most delicious salad I have had in a long time. Then sweet potato and butterbean curry with brown Basmati rice. And a glass of vino. Finally we polished off the rest of the bought raspberry and marscapone cheesecake with fresh raspberries. Hard to follow that then....:D

I shall go and rummage in the freezer. later......

    Off for a shower now.

    Have a good day all.

  • Good morning sending hugs to anyone who needs them.

last night DS1 announced they were having a bake sale to raise money for their prom and was going round his GF to help out, which gave me a perfect chance to try out thumblie jumblies. They are delish! gave half to DS1 this morning for bake sale and kept the other half for home. Kids love taking HM stuff in the lunchboxes.

Going to try and finish off OH neckwarmer for under his bike helmet and maybe finish off a preemie cardigan I started.

Dinner tonight is pork chops, mash and veg, lunch is some welsh rarebit which i havent had in agesss.

Time to go sort out chickens and a quick flick round the house before i can sit down with the knitting.

Hello everyone and hope those who are feeling off, get better soon :)

At work again and have people in so not a ally no mates today :D
Weather is gorgeous, blue skies, lots of sun and that bit of Autumn chill. I love this time of year, all the leaves are coming off around my work building as I'm surrounded by trees and its just lovely. Saying that though, last night was the first time since last winter that I pulled the home made curtain (made last year) across my front door because it was windy here last night and a draught was blowing through.

Home made sarnies brought to work for lunch and ..I'm not going to the gym today  because I have to go and do a bit of shopping at Mr Ts at lunchtime. This is the first time since the beginning of Aug I have not been to the gym whilst at work so I feel a bit naughty but hey... at least I started it. (Its my new year resolution for next year, I thought I would start early, that way next year after a few weeks when I give up, I won't feel so bad iykwim :rotfl:
(Not that its working as the scales are going up not down!!!!)

I have to leave work early today as taking my 15yr old to an open evening at a football stadium tonight. Its supposed to be where they can ask questions of prospective employers etc to decide on careers and courses so it should be interesting. I'm going to drag the 12 yr old along as well to see if it gives her any ideas as well. I'm a bit worried about her as she seems to be not interested in anything at all apart from playing on the Wii. Is that usual?

Tea tonight for me will be a scout around in the freezer and using up the new pots I still have. I need to use all the freezer food up now as I want to defrost it at the end of Oct when we have our little break.

I am going to try making some thimblie thumblies this weekend as they sound fab plus get the BM out as I still have a lot of flour to use up.

Well, best get some work done now as I'm being audited soon but first coffee, choc biccy and need to find some cheap house insurance. :)

    Have a lovely day all.

Ds2 has sorted out his clothes again and we have a huge bag to take to the clothes bank at the school near us.He is completley packed now ready for the off on Sat Getting very nervous now.Have printed off hoards of recipies and put them in clear wallets in a folder so he can take them to Uni with him.Am so glad I taught him how to cook from an early age, his friend has gone off to Manchester Uni already and from what he has said she has been living on Pot Noodles, and ready meals..
We are going to the local wetherspoons pub tomorrow afternoon for a meal to see him off, his girlfriend told me last night that she is going to ask him to marry her there.NO he is only 18 , its to young:eek:
On the dd saga, she is still at her dads , still not talking to me, have sent her a txt telling her we are going out for dinner tomorrow and she is welcome to come as well, will just have to wait and see if she turns up.I AM NOT RUNNING AFTER HER.
After the meal I am putting a ban on takeaways /eating out till after C*******s as taking its toll on finances and body,.
So os today is make ds birthday cake, take clothes to clothes bank, clean downstairs windows and if I get the chance go and see a friend who I went to school with as she bought home her twin babies a couple of days ago.:T

    Morning sistercas,

Hope you guys don't mind me popping on to your thread :o, but noticed your tariff is coming to an end.

There is a new online tariff that may be better for you than the one you will automatically go on to when yours ends.

If you log in to your online account and click 'switch now' you can see the tariff's available to you.

Or just email me through the email address in my profile page and I will help as best I can.

    Have a good day all.

    Helena :)
